Milwaukee PC (via Harukaze5719 ), a retailer that has been around since 1988, has shared the pricing for Intel's 11th Generation Rocket Lake processors that will soon vie for a spot on our list of best CPUs for gaming . The company didn't reveal the launch date but did affirm that the new 14nm chips are coming soon, meaning they'll be new entries in our CPU Benchmark hierarchy soon. The Core i9-11900K will be this generation's flagship, and according to Milwaukee PC, the chip will retail for $599.99. For comparison, the Core i9-10900K debuted at $499.00, so we're looking at 20.2% increase in price for its successor, despite losing two cores, but we do caution that these could be either placeholder or inflated listings. Besides, the Core i9-11900K does bring the new Cypress Cove cores along with Intel's 12th Generation Xe LP graphics unit, so we should wait for in-depth performance testing before passing judgment. If you don't fancy integrated graphics, the Core … [Read more...] about U.S. Retailer Lists Rocket Lake CPUs, Core i9-11900K For $599
SINGAPORE: Polytechnic graduates applying to the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) from 2020 will no longer have their O-Level grades be considered for admission, except for certain courses. This comes with the Ministry of Education (MOE) removing an existing requirement for an applicant’s O-Level results to comprise 20 per cent of his University Admissions Score (UAS). The UAS is a framework adopted by the six autonomous universities to benchmark and rank applicants’ academic abilities for admission to university. Making the announcement on Thursday (Nov 8), Second Minister for Education Indranee Rajah said the polytechnic GPA provides a “better and more current reflection” of the knowledge and skills students have gained during their polytechnic education. “This, along with other initiatives such as discretionary admissions, is in line with the other changes we have made to our education system to allow students with … [Read more...] about O-Level grades will no longer form part of admission scores for Poly grads applying to NUS, NTU from 2020
When buying a business laptop, it can be hard to know which specs matter the most and which ones are ultimately less important for productivity, especially if you don’t have a great understanding of how computers work. If that’s you, don’t worry; this article will go over the most important specs to pay attention to when buying a business laptop, as well as why those specs matter. #1: The processor matters most Out of all of the different components found in business laptops, the most important is the processor. This is because processors are essentially the “brain” of the computers they’re in. Because of how crucial the processor is, making sure that you pick a laptop that has a powerful, fast processor is crucial. Notably, the most advanced type of processors you can get in a business laptop right now are Intel’s 11th Gen chips, as they are faster and more capable than other options. #2: Memory is a close second While random access memory, or RAM, is less … [Read more...] about What components matter most in a business laptop?
Laptops and desktops running Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3000 graphics just got a new feature this year called resizable BAR (base address registers). The feature arrived with the debut of the GeForce RTX 3060 , and through software drivers coming in March, it will work across Nvidia’s line of 3000 series GPUs on desktop and mobile . For GeForce gamers, the added support for resizable BAR means you’ll get a performance boost in select games without having to upgrade to a more expensive GPU , which is definitely good news. What is resizable BAR? Resizable BAR is a feature of the PCI Express interface that Nvidia chose to implement on its latest graphics cards, and it allows the processor and the graphics card to share access to resources for faster data transfer. In fact, Nvidia’s implementation isn’t unlike what rival AMD previously demonstrated with its Smart Access Memory, which allows its Ryzen processors to better and more efficiently communicate with its Radeon GPUs. … [Read more...] about Nvidia’s resizable BAR explained: What is it and how can you get a gaming boost?
SINGAPORE: Drone and model aircraft hobbyists may soon have designated common spaces to fly their aircraft safely, after proposals made by an advisory panel were accepted by the Ministry of Transport. In recommendations submitted to Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung late last year, the advisory panel proposed that the Government consider the development of unmanned aircraft (UA) flying areas, noting that such spaces would help “inculcate an interest in UA, provide common spaces for recreational UA operators to gather, and foster a culture of safety among the community”. "These flying areas will also provide new or beginner recreational operators with the assurance that UA operations are fully sanctioned at these sites," said panel chair Timothy de Souza in a letter sent to Mr Ong last November. In a Facebook post on Friday (Jan 15), Mr Ong said that his ministry has accepted the panel’s recommendations. “More details will be announced in the coming months,” he added. This is the … [Read more...] about Designated flying areas for drones, model aircraft to be set up after proposal by advisory panel
