International Women’s Day is an appropriate time to ask how women have responded to and been impacted by COVID-19. The pandemic has many faces, those of illness and lives lost, but also the face of the Great Revealer. The pandemic has taken situations we assumed were fine, if benignly flawed, and shown them to be outworn and failing. COVID-19 has revealed the strength and indispensability of women to our survival, and starkly underlined the inequitable treatment of those very women. Let’s start with the strength and indispensability of women. Wilder is no stranger to making strange our outspoken comments. The American, who holds one version of the world’s heavyweight championship, has spoken in the past of how he dreams about killing one of his opponents in the ring and will tell anyone who listens that he’s the best heavyweight in the world. He's been the topic, even as President Joe Biden suffered his first defeat on Capitol Hill and House Democrats passed a bill that suppresses our treasured right to freedom of speech. Trump, always controversial, continued unhelpfully to assert the election was stolen from him even while effectively attacking the nascent Biden administration for undoing policies that "made America great again." The speech breathed new life into the discussion of a possible run in 2024 and whether he could win the Republican nomination. Republicans and Democrats both know he could be a formidable presidential candidate in 2024, should he win the GOP nomination. The GOP also picked up a governorship and … [Read more...] about Trump, Trumpism and the Future of the GOP | Opinion
