Most of us stop picking up conkers once we're past the age of putting them on string to play with at school. But mum-of-two Lucie Mann has found a whole new reason to collect nature's bounty as it falls to earth in autumn. The 50-year-old from the New Forest has spent the past year using them to do her laundry with. “I’ve spent no money on washing my clothes all year," she told The Sun . Instead, she cuts conkers in half, chops them up in a blender, then dries them out - that way they can be kept all year without going mouldy. She then takes a handful of the chopped conkers and puts them in boiling water for 30 mins. After straining it, Lucie uses the resulting milky liquid instead of detergent when doing her laundry. “I have a mucky eight-year-old and it works well for him and the clothes don’t have any artificial smell which is nice," She said. The following chemicals are believed to be harsh and potentially damaging, but no definitive evidence has surfaced prove it: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate TEA Lauryl Sulfate Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate Ammonium Laureth Sulfate Ammonium Xylene Sulfonate If you're purchasing dandruff-eliminating shampoos, you'll also want to consider avoiding selenium sulfide and sulfur. Either way, you should notice a trend: types of ammonium and and sulfur show up a lot in the "bad stuff" list. Sodium Laureth Sulfate sounds just as bad, however, but is a supposed to be a gentler alternative to the chemicals in the list above. ASTON Martin has given fans a glimpse at their exclusive line of James Bond replica DB5 models. The British manufacturer's bespoke Q-Branch announced last August it would recreate 25 versions of the iconic spy car, built with working 007-style gadgets. The project is being led by Bond film special effects expert Chris Courbould OBE, who will oversee the customisation of the new DB5s 54 years after the model ceased production. Aston Martin today released a progress report on the new spy cars, with Courbould explaining how the gadgets work in the real world. Voted the greatest movie car of all-time, the classic DB5 first featured in the 1964 spy film, Goldfinger, starring Sean Connery.
