Vietnam records six new COVID-19 infections on March 6 evening Vietnam logged six new COVID-19 cases on March 6 evening, all in northern Hai Duong province, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported. All the new patients had been previously quarantined and are being treated at a COVID-19 treatment hospital in Hai Duong province. By the evening of March 6, Vietnam had recorded a total of 2,507 COVID-19 patients, including 1,584 domestically-transmitted cases. Up to 891 domestic infections have been detected since the third wave of outbreaks hit the country on January 27. The Treatment Subcommittee said that 1,920 patients have recovered from the disease to date, while the number of deaths related to COVID-19 was still kept at 35. Among active patients undergoing treatment, 65 tested negative to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 57 twice and 137 thrice. Vietnam air carriers plan to resume international flights from July 1

The Hanoitimes - The domestic airlines will soon reopen international routes to destinations where the pandemic is under control. Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways have announced that they are ready to resume international air services to destinations where the coronavirus has been contained, likely from July 1, if authorized by the government. At a seminar on the aviation market held on June 12, Nguyen Quang Trung, head of Vietnam Airlines’ Development Planning Department, confirmed that the airline is ready to reopen international routes if permitted by the Vietnamese government and other countries. Vietnam Airlines has prepared outbound flights over the past two months. It has set up a task force for each region, market, flight route to assign resources, flight crew, cabin crew, and work out commercial policies. ‘Nakri’ now upgraded to typhoon as it approaches Vietnam’s coast

PHOTO: en.sat24.com The former tropical storm Nakri has now strengthened to a Category 5 ‘typhoon’ as it moves across the South China Sea toward the Vietnamese coast. It is predicted to make landfall later today or Monday at the latest. Typhoon Nakri, packing wind speeds as high as 120kph at its epi-centre, was in the middle of South China Sea yesterday, moving slowly westwards at 15kph. Meanwhile AccuWeather says the latest prediction is for landfall somewhere along the coast from Da Nang to Qui Hong later today. “Downpours from Severe Tropical Storm Nakri will increase the risk for flooding across portions of Indochina into early next week. “An area of low pressure being monitored by AccuWeather Meteorologists developed into a tropical storm on Tuesday evening, local time, across the South China Sea. ‘Noul’ strengthens as it rips into Vietnam’s central coastline – VIDEO

Tropical storm Noul is slamming into Central Vietnam’s coast, the eye of the storm expected to hit just north of Da Nang, after strengthening as it crossed over the South China Sea in a west north westerly direction, this week. It is now being reported to have reached typhoon strength. The storm will cross over the Vietnamese coast, at full strength, during this morning. By late tonight/early Saturday morning the storm would have crossed into Laos as it weakens to become a tropical low pressure.but is expected to dump torrential rains along the way. The effects of the storm will affect Thailand’s north eastern provinces from tomorrow but, apart from heavy rain, the storm will continue to dissipate as it heads west. Cooperation between Vietcombank, FWD Insurance to benefit Vietnam customers

The Hanoitimes - Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue requested FWD to invest in innovation startups in Vietnam, which are considered one of the country’s potential fields for development. Cooperation between FWD Insurance, an insurance unit of Hong Kong’s investment group Pacific Century, and state-run Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) would expand the former’s insurance activities in Vietnam and benefit customers, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue.
