China has offered foreign diplomats in Beijing inoculation with one of its coronavirus vaccines, possibly as early as this month. But the offer has had a mixed response among overseas diplomats amid concerns that the shots could complicate future travel. Diplomatic sources said the protocol department at the Chinese foreign ministry told them this week that they could be given a vaccine developed by state firm Sinopharm. Its developers reported an efficacy rate of 79 per cent against symptomatic Covid-19 and the product was approved for public use in China in December. It was granted emergency use in July and given to some senior Chinese officials and Chinese diplomats at the time. Border guards detect 51 illegal immigrants trying to enter Vietnam
Among the group are a total of 35 Vietnamese expatriates residing in the Cambodian province of Kampong Chhnang who travelled by boat on March 4 to a border area in Hong Ngu district of Dong Thap province. Soldiers stationed at Thuong Phuoc international border gate in Dong Thap province and Vinh Xuong gate in An Giang province originally detected the group and encouraged them to return back to Cambodia. At present, the Vietnamese embassy and the overseas Vietnamese association in Cambodia are trying to support them to return to their homes in Cambodia as part of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention measures. Sim Ann heads to China for Our Singapore Conversation dialogues
SINGAPORE: Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Education) Sim Ann, who is a member of Our Singapore Conversation Committee, will be in China for two dialogues. On November 22, the dialogue will be held in Shanghai at 7pm at the Singapore Consulate. On November 23, another dialogue will be held in Beijing at 7pm at the Singapore Embassy. A series of Our Singapore Conversation (OSC) dialogues have been held as part of efforts to reach out to Singaporeans abroad. The first of the series of overseas dialogues began in London on November 3. It saw more than 30 Singaporeans from all over United Kingdom coming together to participate in the dialogue.
