Trump-Backed Candidate Bob Paduchik Tapped To Head Ohio Republican Party

· February 28, 2021 ·

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An experienced campaigner for former President Donald Trump and top Ohio Republican took the helm of the state party Friday, pledging to strengthen the party’s performance in Democrat-heavy urban counties headed into the 2022 elections. Trump endorsed Bob Paduchik over a far-right challenger to succeed Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken, who resigned to run for U.S. Senate. He called the man who ran his successful 2016 and 2020 campaigns in the state “outstanding in every way.” Trump won Ohio both times by more than 8 percentage points. But Paduchik’s challenger for the party’s top job, former state Rep. John Becker, cast him as an establishment-backing insider saddled with too much baggage. “I’m the regular guy,” Becker told State Central Committee members in a meeting held jointly in person and online. “I don’t have extensive tentacles with family members and multiple organizations and multiple campaigns going back to the beginning of time.” Becker … [Read more...] about Trump-Backed Candidate Bob Paduchik Tapped To Head Ohio Republican Party

Trump’s push to reopen schools amid COVID-19 part of bid to boost suburban standing

· July 12, 2020 ·

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump's demand for US schools to fully reopen this fall amid the coronavirus pandemic is central to an emerging re-election strategy that seeks to resuscitate his flagging support in the nation's critical suburbs. Trump in recent weeks has taken stances on hot-button issues his campaign hopes will appeal to suburban voters, particularly women, who have soured on the Republican president since his 2016 election and continue to move away as the virus rages across the country and the economy sputters. READ: US COVID-19 cases rise by more than 60,000, setting single-day record Along with aggressively pushing for students to return to classrooms - "Schools must be open in the Fall," he tweeted on Friday (Jul 10) - Trump has warned of rising urban crime rates and threats to civil order in the wake of protests over racial injustice while pointing to the vibrant stock market as a marker of economic health. The messaging amounts to a fresh effort to … [Read more...] about Trump’s push to reopen schools amid COVID-19 part of bid to boost suburban standing

Trump signs order to expand access to telehealth services in rural areas

· August 4, 2020 ·

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Monday (Aug 3) signed an executive order expanding access to telehealth services for 57 million Americans in under-served rural areas and elsewhere, after virtual visits soared during the coronavirus pandemic. Trump, who is counting on votes from backers in rural areas in the 2020 presidential election, said the new order would ensure that telehealth services expanded during the pandemic remained in place even after the public health emergency ended. He also directed the Department of Health and Human Services to cut regulatory burdens and develop a new payment model that allows rural providers to waive some existing Medicare rules and ensure more predictable financial payments. Americans in rural areas are more likely to die of five leading causes of death such as cancer and heart disease than their urban counterparts, the White House said, with transportation challenges, shortages of healthcare workers and a dwindling number of … [Read more...] about Trump signs order to expand access to telehealth services in rural areas

Urban local bodies in Rajasthan must implement building bylaws by March 4

· February 28, 2021 ·

JAIPUR : After many urban local bodies (ULBs) failed to implement the Rajasthan Urban Area Building Regulation , the directorate of local bodies (DLB) issued a final warning to implement the Rajasthan Urban Area Building Regulation, 2020 before March 4. A letter has been sent to the development authorities and Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) to issue the notification on the given date. An official at DLB said, “The department had earlier released the regulation, but implementation is still pending. We have issued the direction. If ULBs still do not act, it will automatically come into existence on March 5 as per Section 337(4) of the Rajasthan Muncipal Act,” he said. On November 12, civic bodies were given 15 days’ time for implementation of the regulation. However, majority of them failed. Once implemented, a developer can construct a structure up to a height of 18 metre (five storeys) on a plot sized 500 square metre or more. Trump’s COVID-19 orders too little, too late to help US economy, experts say

· August 11, 2020 ·

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump's weekend attempt to sidestep stalled congressional negotiations over the next coronavirus aid package will do little to boost the economy, experts said. Trump's executive order and presidential memoranda, introduced on Saturday (Aug 8), would temporarily extend enhanced unemployment benefits at a reduced amount of US$400 a week, defer payroll taxes for some workers, suspend federal student loan payments and potentially provide eviction relief. Even if he can overcome the legal questions surrounding his actions, the efforts may not pack much punch, economists say. Mark Zandi, the chief economist at Moody's Analytics, calculated the orders could provide just over US$400 billion in total relief. JPMorgan Chase economist Michael Feroli wrote in an email note on Monday that the initiatives could contribute "less than US$100 billion" in stimulus. That is versus the US$1 trillion aid package proposed by the Republican-led Senate or the more … [Read more...] about Trump’s COVID-19 orders too little, too late to help US economy, experts say
