Shamima Begum has been seen for the first time since the Supreme Court ruled she cannot return to the UK to pursue an appeal against the removal of her British citizenship. Footage shows the 21-year-old ISIS bride walking through the al-Roj detention camp where she has been living in northern Syria following the collapse of the terror group's Middle East stronghold. British-born Ms Begum was wearing sunglasses, a jacket, t-shirt, leggings and white trainers when the video was recorded by an ITV News crew. She was usually seen wearing traditional clothing when tracked down by journalists in the past. In the video, she appears to turn her face away from the news camera and walk hurriedly towards a cluster of tens as children play outside. She declined to comment, ITV news reported. Ms Begum was 15 when she and two other east London schoolgirls travelled to Syria to join the so-called Islamic State group (IS) in February 2015. Facebook Unlikely to Get Off With a Whole Skin After Banning National News, UK Observers Say
In a Sunday interview with The Times, Matt Hancock suggested that Oliver Dowden, the digital, culture, media, and sport secretary, "will be looking very closely" at how Britain could make Facebook compensate news publishers. Australia's Parliament is poised to pass a Media Bargaining Code which would compel tech giants to pay news agencies for displaying their news. Responding to the measure, Facebook unilaterally restricted Australian users from viewing and sharing news links . In addition to that, the Silicon Valley giant "inadvertently" banned government, health-department, and emergency-services pages, disrupting, in particular, sharing COVID updates. Facebook's ban came under heavy criticism from Australian, British, and Canadian officials. How Could Facebook's Hypothetical Ban Hit the UK? The initial consequence of Facebook's unilateral ban was the 13 percent reduction of traffic to Australian news sites. The UK may face a similar problem when resorting to … [Read more...] about Facebook Unlikely to Get Off With a Whole Skin After Banning National News, UK Observers Say
Boy butchers hairdo while mum was on phone because he ‘looked like Boris Johnson’
A mum was left in hysterics when her son butchered his hair with a pair of children's scissors after he decided he looked too much like Boris Johnson . Melanie Henry, from Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, left five-year-old son, Angus, to play while she took a work call. The 32-year-old returned to find he'd chopped off his blonde locks with a pair of children's scissors. Melanie, a teacher, has been working from home as well as keeping an eye on Angus and his siblings, Struan, nine, and Piper, four. After friends and family pointed out Angus' resemblance to the Prime Minister, the schoolboy decided to take matters into his own hands. She said: "I was on a work call when and when I came off he had cut his hair so all the fringe was gone. Any amusing lockdown haircuts in your family? Email us [email protected] "I just asked him what had happened and he said he did it because I'd said that the salons were shut and he didn't want to wait for a hair cut. "I was … [Read more...] about Boy butchers hairdo while mum was on phone because he ‘looked like Boris Johnson’

A couple and their 13 children are facing homelessness if a house big enough for them doesn’t become available in the next nine weeks. Deborah and Craig Douglas have until the end of April to move out of their home in Dumfries after their landlady decided to sell up. Despite applying for a number of private lets and pleading with housing associations, the family still haven’t found anywhere big enough for their brood. And Deborah, 38, feels they are being “discriminated” against because of the size of their family. She said: “We’ve been in our current home for nearly five years but the landlady told us in November 2019 she was selling. “I immediately went to the council’s homeless department but 15 months down the line, they still haven’t found anywhere for us to go. “We’ve now got just nine weeks to find somewhere or we’ll be out in the street. “It’s only thanks to our fantastic landlady that we’re not already homeless but she can’t wait much longer. “My husband … [Read more...] about Family of 15 face homelessness if house big enough for them all can’t be found in time
