Manchester United Finally Sign Bruno Fernandes

· February 3, 2020 ·

It is true that Manchester United might had an under-par season to date. Yet, despite an expectancy for them to be busy in the January transfer window it took them until now to land their first signing in the shape of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who signed for an initial £47m . How the deal unfolded Manchester United have been long term admirers of Fernandes with strong rumours linking them with a move for him back in the summer window, but nothing materialized at that time. Fast forward a few months into the season though and it became clear that United were in desperate need of three things – leadership, experience and quality – and Fernandes fits the profile perfectly hence the murmurings of a substantial bid gaining traction again. It was widely believed that a deal would be concluded early in the month, but Sporting rebuffed the initial bids from United as they were considered to be stacked in the English club’s favour with respect of add ons that were … [Read more...] about Manchester United Finally Sign Bruno Fernandes

Athletics: Rising stars Duplantis, Ingebrigtsen imperious at European indoor meet

· March 9, 2021 ·

TORUN, POLAND (AFP) - Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, two of the rising stars of track and field, showcased all their incredible promise with imperious displays to win the pole vault and 3,000 metres at the European Indoor Athletics championships in Torun on Sunday (March 7). Coming up to four years since Usain Bolt retired, the athletics world has been long looking for a replacement worthy of the plaudits lauded on the multi-medalled Jamaican sprint legend. And in US-born Swede Duplantis and Norwegian track prodigy Ingebrigtsen, they might well have found two suitable substitutes in a sport in need of identifiable pin-ups. Ingebrigtsen, 20, defended his 3,000m title to claim a Euro indoor double after his controversy-ridden victory in the 1,500m on Friday, recording a personal best of 7min 48.20sec. It was almost a case of the Norwegian heading home with nothing after a dramatic 1,500m that saw him disqualified for stepping infield, only to be reinstated in … [Read more...] about Athletics: Rising stars Duplantis, Ingebrigtsen imperious at European indoor meet

Global vaccination still a long way ahead

· March 2, 2021 ·

Recent estimates suggest that 70 to 90 percent of the world's population will have to be inoculated before there will be herd immunity. However, according to a Bloomberg report, it will take 4.6 years to cover 75 percent of the world's population with a two-dose vaccine. The time needed to vaccinate three-quarters of the world's population should decrease as the pace of vaccinations gains speed and more vaccine candidates are approved. At least 108 countries and territories have administered more than 239 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. There are already 10 different vaccines approved for use in various countries around the world. Early reports show that COVID-19 cases in Israel, which has been the quickest to start vaccinating its citizens since December last year, have fallen significantly among those who were vaccinated. The vaccine rollout strategy varies from country to country. Some have favored vaccinating as many people as possible in the fastest possible time, … [Read more...] about Global vaccination still a long way ahead

The genius tip that will cure your jet lag – but you won’t enjoy the preparation

· March 5, 2021 ·

JET lag can ruin a holiday, as well as make you feel awful for days on end. Many experts have their own ways of avoiding it, with one explaining it is all to do with drinking coffee at the right time. Samantha Brown, who travels for a living as a TV host, said the key to avoiding jet lag starts days before travelling. Sadly, caffeine addicts may not be pleased to hear it includes giving up coffee for a few days before heading off on holiday. She told Travel + Leisure : "I try to limit caffeine a few days before I leave on a trip so it is totally out of my system when I land. "I try to wait to have more caffeine until I'm about to collapse and that is when I allow myself to have a double espresso." She continues: "The caffeine then hits my system so strongly because I am so depleted of it that I am able to go the rest of the day. "I do that again when I return. It is like methodically taking caffeine so I get the strongest punch." Limiting food and drink is way … [Read more...] about The genius tip that will cure your jet lag – but you won’t enjoy the preparation
