The Duke of Edinburgh has undergone a successful operation for a pre-existing heart condition, Buckingham Palace has said. Prince Philip, 99, will remain in hospital for a number of days following the procedure. A statement from Buckingham Palace said: "The Duke of Edinburgh yesterday underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. "His Royal Highness will remain in hospital for treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days." Philip was was initially admitted to the private King Edward VII's Hospital on February 16 as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell, before being moved to St Bartholomew's on Monday. Four days later, he was visited by his eldest son the Prince of Wales, who made a 200-mile round trip and stayed for around 30 minutes. Singaporean woman in Australia car accident dies in hospital
SINGAPORE: A Singaporean woman involved in last Saturday's car crash in the Australian state of Victoria has died in hospital, state police said in a news release on Wednesday (Nov 28). The 20-year-old victim was among five Singaporeans in the car, which was driven by Nasuha Nasser. Two of the passengers, aged 20, remain in hospital in a stable condition, said Victoria police. It was reported that one of the injured is Nasuha’s twin sister, who suffered serious head and chest injuries. She was flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital after the accident, according to 9News. Nasuha, 21, was charged on Sunday with negligently causing serious injury and dangerous driving causing serious injury. Those charges will now be reviewed, said Victoria police, given that one of the injured has died. REUTERS: Katy McAvoy hoped she would have more time for her job search after her 5-year-old daughter started in-person kindergarten in mid-November after months of virtual learning due to the pandemic. But the school near Grand Rapids, Michigan closed again a week later as COVID-19 infections surged there and across much of the country. The unpredictable schedule made it difficult for McAvoy to find time for interviews and networking or to figure out a feasible work schedule. So even though school opened again in January, McAvoy, who was furloughed from her job with a local arts organization last June and permanently laid off in November, decided to stop searching. "What do you say to an employer in that situation?" said McAvoy, 41. "They're going to hire someone who doesn’t need a bunch of exceptions."
