WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump, in a farewell address released on Tuesday (Jan 19), urged prayers for the new administration of President-elect Joe Biden but did not acknowledge his Democratic successor by name. "This week, we inaugurate a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous," the Republican president said in the video remarks. "We extend our best wishes, and we also want them to have luck - a very important word." Trump has refused to offer a full concession to Biden, who won the Nov 3 election with 306 Electoral College votes to Trump's 232. The outgoing president is not meeting with Biden before the Democrat's inauguration at 12pm on Wednesday (Thursday, 1am, Singapore time) and instead plans to fly to Florida, where he is expected to reside after his White House term. Trump campaigned on a pledge to "Make America Great Again" but leaves office with 400,000 people dead of the coronavirus whose risk he downplayed, an … [Read more...] about In farewell address, Trump urges prayers for next administration without mentioning Biden

Exclusive— CPAC Sunshine Edition: ACU Chair Matt Schlapp Says Mega Conservative Conference Considering Permanent Move to Florida
ORLANDO, Florida — American Conservative Union (ACU) chairman Matt Schlapp told Breitbart News exclusively that his organization’s decision to move its landmark conservative gathering, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), to Florida this year may be a more permanent relocation after all. CPAC begins Friday in Orlando, Florida, and for the first time in the historic conference’s decades-long history, it will not be in Washington, DC, or the D.C. area. Presidents from Ronald Reagan through Donald Trump and conservative luminaries of all stripes from senators to governors to U.S. House members to cabinet members and more have graced the stages of CPAC over the decades many times, so the move — due to the coronavirus pandemic — is a big one. The fact that it may be permanent — a huge loss for the D.C. area revenue-wise as the conference regularly brings in tens of thousands of travelers for several days — is even bigger as just days from now, former President Donald … [Read more...] about Exclusive— CPAC Sunshine Edition: ACU Chair Matt Schlapp Says Mega Conservative Conference Considering Permanent Move to Florida
Commentary: Facebook’s decision to resist advertiser boycott could pay off in the long run
SINGAPORE: Facebook announced on Friday (Jun 26) that it will begin labelling posts that break its rules but are newsworthy – even those of President Donald Trump. For free speech advocates, Facebook’s about-face is progress. It is finally taking action but resisting calls to censor polititians. American voters will continue to see Trump’s ugliest utterances, along with Facebook’s labels that call him out. And that will help any of us who have not already made up our minds decide whether we can take another four years. READ: Commentary: Is Facebook cosying up to US President Donald Trump? Florida man charged with plotting attack on Trump supporters
TALLAHASSEE, Florida: A Florida man accused of trying to organise an armed response to supporters of former president Donald Trump for their expected gathering last month at the state Capitol has been indicted on federal charges. A federal grand jury in Tallahassee formally charged Daniel Baker on Thursday (Feb 18) with two counts of transmitting a communication in interstate commerce containing a threat to kidnap or injure, according to court records. The FBI arrested Baker on Jan 15 at his Tallahassee home. “At a time of widespread alarm and turmoil in our nation, and at state capitals in particular, Baker’s actions clearly posed a threat to public order,” US Attorney for the Northern District of Florida Lawrence Keefe said in a statement. Baker was using social media to recruit people in a plot to create a circle around protesters and trap them in the Capitol, according to an affidavit filed by an FBI agent. Court documents describe what it said were a series of threats of … [Read more...] about Florida man charged with plotting attack on Trump supporters
Larry Kudlow Says $1.9T Relief Package Unnecessary, Pandemic Coming to an End
Larry Kudlow, White House economics adviser under former President Donald Trump , ridiculed President Joe Biden 's $1.9 trillion relief package as a bloated and completely unnecessary bill because the pandemic "is coming to a rolling end." Kudlow said economic history shows that "targeted" assistance packages should only offer direct payments to people making under $40,000-to-$50,000-a-year and should instead focus on small businesses and schools. Kudlow echoed the criticism of many Republicans who say they won't support "blanket" checks to individuals making more than $75,000 and are refusing to support the $15 federal minimum wage hike included in the bill. Kudlow said "the economy must open" and he mocked his own friends for saying "you shouldn't go to dinner" and other "nonsense" that takes the focus away from America's vaccination successes. Kudlow told Fox News Tuesday the current package, which House Democrats hope to pass by mid-March, barely provides any funding … [Read more...] about Larry Kudlow Says $1.9T Relief Package Unnecessary, Pandemic Coming to an End
