Poland’s CD Projekt delays Cyberpunk 2077 fix due to cyber attack

· February 25, 2021 ·

WARSAW, - Polish video games maker CD Projekt is delaying the release of a patch for its Cyberpunk 2077 game until the second half of March, it said on Wednesday, after a cyber attack slowed down work on fixes for the troubled game. The cyber attack earlier this month compromised some of CD Projekt's internal systems including the source code to Cyberpunk 2077, dealing another blow to the Warsaw-based business after the game's launch was beset by glitches. "While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio's IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen," the company wrote on Twitter. After releasing some fixes for the game in January, the company had planned to release a bigger patch in February. Shares in the company, which rose to fame on the back of the success of its medieval fantasy Witcher series, plunged at the end of last … [Read more...] about Poland’s CD Projekt delays Cyberpunk 2077 fix due to cyber attack

Energy provider Npower has removed its app after stolen login data was used to access customer accounts. The firm, owned by E.ON - one of the UK's big six energy suppliers - has not revealed how many people may have been affected by the cyber attack. It is believed that personal contact details and partial financial information may have been obtained, according to MoneySavingExpert.com , although full account numbers appear not to have been taken. Npower said it has alerted those who may have been affected and "immediately locked" their accounts. "We identified suspicious cyber activity affecting the npower mobile app, where someone has accessed customer accounts using login data stolen from another website. This is known as credential stuffing," the company said in a statement. "We've contacted all affected customers to make them aware of the issue, encouraging them to change their passwords and advice on how to prevent unauthorised access to their online account. Assad Secret Police Torturer Convicted in Germany, Sentenced to 4.5 Years

· February 25, 2021 ·

BERLIN (AP) – A former member of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s secret police was convicted Wednesday by a German court of facilitating the torture of prisoners in a landmark ruling that human rights activists hope will set a precedent for other cases in the decade-long conflict. Eyad Al-Gharib was convicted of accessory to crimes against humanity and sentenced by the Koblenz state court to 4 1/2 years in prison. It was the first time that a court outside Syria ruled in a case alleging Syrian government officials committed crimes against humanity. German prosecutors invoked the principle of universal jurisdiction for serious crimes to bring the case that involved victims and defendants who were in Germany. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the trial was a step against impunity in the conflict. His country has given refuge to hundreds of thousands of Syrians fleeing violence and hardship in their homeland, and backed international efforts to collect prosecutable evidence … [Read more...] about Assad Secret Police Torturer Convicted in Germany, Sentenced to 4.5 Years
