Rugby league great Paul Gallen has escalated his war of words with Lucas Browne ahead of their April 21 boxing showdown, with the pair locking horns at a media conference today. WandaVision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And Comic Book References In “The Series Finale”

· March 7, 2021 ·

Well, it's over. WandaVision Episode 9, "The Series Finale," is streaming now on Disney+, and no matter what else you may have thought about it, the final chapter was at least full of Easter eggs and references for us to break down. If that's what you're interested in, go ahead and keep scrolling. If you haven't watched the episode yet, what are you doing here? There are going to be way too many spoilers. Of course, there's a lot to say about the episode itself, and we have no doubt that fans are going to be divided on this one. On the other hand, this episode left a lot of dangling threads that may or may not be picked up down the road in future MCU movies and shows. Plus, the Evan Peters casting turned out to be a red … [Read more...] about WandaVision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And Comic Book References In “The Series Finale”

Mark Twain, President Grant, and the Con Man

· February 2, 2021 ·

When Samuel L. Clemens received an invitation to the White House to meet President Grant, he assumed this meant a formal reception or similar group event. The man known to the world as Mark Twain was instead ushered into the oval office, where the President was working alone. When the aide escorting Twain introduced him to the hero of Appomattox, the notoriously voluble author was for once at a loss for words. Neither man spoke for several awkward seconds. Finally, Twain managed to blurt out, “ Mr. President, I am embarrassed — are you? ” Twain and Grant eventually became good friends, although it was some years before they met again. At that second meeting, Grant broke the silence: “ Mr. Clemens, I am not embarrassed, are you? ” The friendship between these two famous men of the 19th century — an historic event in itself — is made even more notable by the interference of a con man. In keeping with the stature of the men he defrauded, this swindler was arguably the greatest … [Read more...] about Mark Twain, President Grant, and the Con Man

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Efforts to Disrupt Work of Congress Opposed by 18 Republicans

· March 3, 2021 ·

A group of 18 House Republicans has voted against Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene's most recent attempt to prematurely adjourn the House—her third such attempt over the last six days. Each of Greene's attempts has been in protest of Democratic legislation and comments introduced in the lower congressional chamber. Each of her attempts has also disrupted congressional work by forcing House members to return to the floor to vote on the matter. "I rise today to inform Democrats the radical path you're taking will cause you to lose in 2022," Greene said before asking the chamber to adjourn on Wednesday, according to Washington Post congressional reporter Paul Kane. Before forcing Wednesday's adjournment vote, Greene also called President Joe Biden 's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 stimulus bill "shameful" and claimed that Biden had placed the police on his "hit list," Kane reported. While no House Republicans opposed Greene's first motion to adjourn and only two … [Read more...] about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Efforts to Disrupt Work of Congress Opposed by 18 Republicans
