Oscar Health Inc, a health insurance startup backed by Google parent Alphabet Inc , sold shares in its initial public offering ( IPO ) on Tuesday at $39 apiece, above its target range, to raise $1.2 billion. The IPO gives New York-based Oscar Health a market value of $7.7 billion. The target price range on the offering of 31 million shares was raised earlier on Tuesday to $36-$38 per share, up from $32-$34. Oscar Health sells health insurance coverage to individuals, families, small businesses and Medicare users, with 529,000 customers on its technology platform across 18 states. In 2020, Oscar Health said its customers grew 75% year-on-year as the COVID-19 pandemic increased demand for healthcare delivery through online, mobile and at-home methods. NEW YORK: Major US indices surged to records on Friday (Jul 26) following standout earnings from Google, Starbucks and others and as investors anticipated an expected Federal Reserve interest rate cut next week. The broad-based S&P 500 rose 22.18 points (0.74 per cent) to 3,025.86, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 91.67 points (1.11 per cent) to 8,330.21. Both are new records, topping the prior all-time highs set Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 51.47 points (0.19 per cent) to 27,192.45, about 170 points shy of its own peak. The records reflect positive investor sentiment midway through an earnings season that is seen as generally topping forecasts. He replaces former colleague John Skipper , the longtime former ESPN executive who steered DAZN through launches in the U.S. and other global territories. Backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik, DAZN specializes in boxing and soccer, but also controls rights to several other sports in various territories. Given its resources, the service has been considered a candidate to make a play for more high-end sports rights. The value of those rights has declined in some international markets, making them attractive, and is becoming unwieldy for traditional U.S. media companies. The company's shares opened at US$36 on the New York Stock Exchange, below its initial public offering (IPO) price of US$39 per share. Oscar Health raised US$1.2 billion in its offering on Tuesday.
