Actor-comedian Gurmit Singh has crossed over to the radio airwaves; he joined Vernetta Lopez and Mike Kasem on Gold 905’s morning show on Monday (Aug 19). The new programme will be called Live With Mike, Vernetta and Gurmit. Singh, who left Mediacorp in 2014 after 20 years, is best known for his portrayal of Phua Chu Kang in the hit local sitcom. He’s been largely out of the spotlight since then to spend more time with his family. His three kids are now 21, 18 and six years old. On his new gig as a radio DJ, Singh told CNA Lifestyle: “It’s cool – it’s a dream come true.” He quipped that he’d been trying to get on radio for the past 20 years and now he’s finally been allowed on. “Whenever I used to do radio interviews, I was always amazed by the work that they do and the fun that they have,” he said. The 54-year-old admitted to having first-day jitters last night before his show – “I was apprehensive, nervous and tentative. It was like the first day of school and I had to make … [Read more...] about Actor-comedian Gurmit Singh joins the radio morning team on Gold 905

Apple TV puts its spin on the old-time radio thriller with ‘Calls’
Through the looking glass: "Who knows—what evil—lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows. Mwuhaahaha." I was always fascinated with old-time radio dramas as a kid. I think it was because my imagination visualized the scenes in a higher definition than our early 1980s TV with rabbit ears ever could. Apple is ready to apply a similar concept with its intriguing new series, "Calls." Apple TV+ is producing a new series called "Calls." The show's uniqueness is that it's more like a podcast than a television show judging by the trailer (above). Each episode features recorded telephone calls that range from the dark to the bizarre. While the stories are unique, Apple cryptically says they all share one "connection," tying them into a larger narrative. The actors never appear visually. Instead, we listen in on their phone conversations as vocal graphs and captions display on the screen. It is unclear how these visuals play into the show, but the trailer does say to "listen carefully" … [Read more...] about Apple TV puts its spin on the old-time radio thriller with ‘Calls’
Exclusive – Mike Cernovich: Only Way to Fight Cancel Culture Is ‘You Have to Cancel Them’
Defeating left-wing “cancel culture” requires a reciprocal approach from the right, determined Mike Cernovich, author, journalist, and producer of Hoaxed , on Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “The only way that you can fight back against cancel culture is you have to cancel them,” Cernovich stated, advising those on the right to fight fire with fire. “Y ou have to say, ‘Okay, so this is the way it’s going to be. We’re looking at tweets? Cool, here are your tweets. You’re terrible. I ‘m going to create a caricature of you based on two or three tweets that I saw of yours, and that’s your identity. That’s who you are forever. That’s what we’re gonna bring up for the rest your life.'” He added, “I’ll be careful how I word this because I’m pro-Christian, but fundamentally, Christianity — if I can make kind of critique of Christianity — is too passive.” Conservatives and the broader right should apply a strategy of mutually … [Read more...] about Exclusive – Mike Cernovich: Only Way to Fight Cancel Culture Is ‘You Have to Cancel Them’

Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the Union government to file an affidavit in response to a PIL challenging the decision of making FASTag , India's electronic toll collection chip for national highways, mandatory for all vehicles at toll plazas . Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) noted on Wednesday that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, the Biden administration’s nomination for secretary of Health and Human Services, has no professional experience in health care or medicine. “Our head secretary nomination, Mr. Becerra, has zero healthcare experience,” said Marshall in interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “Let me just remind people — this is called the Department of Health and Human Services — so it’s about healthcare, right? And this guy has zero healthcare experience. It’s very, very frustrating that we have a person like this.” Marshall, an obstetrician, continued, “Mr. Becerra, the HHS secretary [nominee], has no healthcare experience … I’m afraid he’s radical on abortion, zero healthcare experience.
