“ Billy Bush will be leaving the Today Show’s 9 AM hour, effective today,” NBC News SVP Noah Oppenheim said this evening in a note to staff. In the carefully worded statement, Oppenheim called Bush “a valued colleague and longtime member of the broader NBC family” adding that they wish him success as he goes forward. In a separate statement, Bush said he was “deeply grateful for the conversations I’ve had with my daughters, and for all of the support from family, friends and colleagues” adding that he is looking “forward to what lies ahead.” With the announcement, NBC News has said so long to Bush, ridding itself of the Today show anchor heard round the TV news landscape giggling his way through a lewd conversation with Donald Trump about women, including Bush’s then- Access Hollywood co-host Nancy O’Dell. Senator Lindsey Graham has warned that former President Donald Trump could destroy the Republican Party or rebuild it as a bigger and more diverse coalition after his combative speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Speaking to Axios on HBO , the South Carolina Republican said Trump was a "bigger-than-life deal," and argued that he had the power to either make the GOP stronger or bring it to its knees. He added that the former president had a "dark side" but also "some magic there," as he claimed to be trying to "harness the magic" of the former commander-in-chief. "There's something about Trump. There's a dark side and there's some magic there. What I'm trying to do is just harness the magic," Graham told Axios. "To me, Donald Trump is a sort of a cross between Jesse Helms, Ronald Reagan, and P.T. Barnum." The senator added: "I mean it's just this bigger-than-life deal. Murkowski said President Joe Biden 's $1.9 trillion stimulus bill was "wholly partisan" and dubbed some measures in the plan "unnecessary" and unrelated to the ongoing pandemic. She also said she was concerned that the relief bill—known as the American Rescue Plan—would provide further help to those who had already "benefited" from the pandemic. A key plank of the $1.9 trillion is very popular among Alaskans—the plan for a new round of $1,400 stimulus checks. A February poll found that 68 percent of voters in the state backed the measure Murkowski voted against on Saturday. In her lengthy statement, Murkowski said: "Individual payments along with a further extension of Unemployment Insurance will be important to many … [Read more...] about Lisa Murkowksi Explains Vote Against Stimulus Bill as Donald Trump Threat Looms
