Take-off of Maritime varsity, brought peace to N-Delta — Okowa

Kindly Share This Story: ….Calls for opening of Nigeria’s Ports By Festus Ahon GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has said the take-off of the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state had brought peace to the Niger Delta region. Okowa who stated this when the Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh and his management team visited him at Government House, Asaba, pledged the support of the state government to the growth and development of the university. He said the state government would partner NIMASA to develop the state’s maritime potential and commended the management of the agency for reaching out to stakeholders in the littoral states in its determination to develop the maritime sector. Delta LG poll: One killed, as PDP clears 25 chairmanship seats

Kindly Share This Story: By Festus Ahon & Ochuko Akuopha THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, weekend, won all the 25 chairmanship seats in the Delta State local government elections, conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC. The poll, which was held on Saturday, was adjudged as peaceful, free and fair by members of the PDP. However, the All Progressives Congress, APC, which pulled out of the exercise at about 12 noon, mid-way into the election, described the poll as a sham. PDP’s victory came amid confusion at Evwreni community, Ughelli North Local Government Area as one Mr Muvi Unagha was reportedly shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen. It was learned that the deceased was shot at a popular drinking joint in the community while waiting for the arrival of electoral materials. Okowa felicitates with Osinbajo at 64

Kindly Share This Story: Delta  State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on his 64th birth anniversary. The vice president turned 64 on March 8. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, Okowa lauded Osinbajo for his astute contributions toward good governance in the country. He said that in spite of challenges, the vice president had continued to make quality contributions to the stability and growth of Nigeria’s economy. Thailand News Today | Bangkok protest fallout, northern fire bans | March 1

Coming up today… the fallout from yesterday’s latest protest violence in Bangkok, the first vaccine in Thailand who got it, and a major drug haul along the Mekong. But first we’ll start up north where Lampang Province is joining other northern provinces todday by putting a total fire ban in place from today, March 1, until the end of April. Chiang Mai also started a ban on all deliberately lit fires from today and Lamphun, just south of Chiang Mai, already has one in place. The bans are timely after a horrid weekend of air pollution in many of Thailand’s provinces over the long weekend, even as far south as the tourist destination of Phuket where visibility was down to about 1 kilometre and the smell of smoke was noticeable.
