Though the star of Thursday's media event was the new generation of iPads, Apple has at last announced an update to the Mac mini , calling it the "world's most energy efficient desktop" and adding some much-needed features to its micro-sized computer. The new Mac mini comes with fourth-generation Intel core processors, Intel Iris and HD graphics 5000 options, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi capabilities and two Thunderbolt 2 ports. SINGAPORE: Chinese tech giant Huawei’s recently unveiled Harmony operating system (OS) is not meant to replace Google’s Android, and it will fail if it is designed for that purpose, a company executive said on Friday (Aug 23). Mr James Lu, senior manager for EMUI product marketing at Huawei Technologies, also told CNA that a Harmony OS-powered smartphone or tablet is unlikely to hit the market any time soon. Apple updated its Mac mini computer Tuesday, upgrading the desktop computer with new features and more under the hood. The updated Mac mini has dual or quad-core i5 or i7 processor, with up to 16GB of RAM, Intel HD graphics 4000, Bluetooth 4.0 and either a 1TB HDD or 256GB SSD. The base model for the computer starts at $599 for a 2.5Ghz dual-core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 500GB HDD. The updated Mac mini starts shipping today. In addition to an updated Mac mini, Apple also announced a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro Tuesday and updated its iMac line.
