Maharashtra: MNS workers protest against inflated electricity bills and rising fuel prices in Kalyan
KALYAN : Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers held a protest march in Kalyan against inflated electricity bills in city during lockdown and also against Central government over the rising petrol and diesel prices. The MNS workers were seeking rollback in the power tariff hike and reduction in fuel prices. The protesters were seen carrying posters of electric pole and gas cylinders against the hike in electricity and fuel prices. They organised a march from the Kalyan railway station to the Tehsildar office. Manoj Gharat, an MNS leader said. "We organised the march to make the state and central government to understand that inflated electricity bill and hike in fuel prices are putting burden on people at a time when they are already facing deep economic and financial distress", he said. MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota Court of Appeals has dismissed the state’s appeals in the case of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, which means his trial over George Floyd’s death will begin March 8 as scheduled. The state argued to delay the trial due to the COVID-19 pandemic and public safety issues. The appeals court says that, while the concerns are important, “the judicial branch has implemented significant, tested safeguards and conditions on court operations and the conduct of jury trials during the pandemic.” The appeal to re-join the trials of Chauvin with the other three former officers charged in Floyd’s death was also denied.
