MOSCOW: Russia should ensure its natural gas and LNG supplies do not compete in international markets , Gazprom said on Thursday, amid signs a local LNG rival is becoming increasingly important in the European market traditionally dominated by Gazprom. Moscow has for years said its pipeline gas, which only Gazprom has a right to export, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), would never compete, with its LNG targeting mainly Asia and parts of Europe not served by natural gas pipelines. However, Yamal LNG, led by Russia's top private gas producer Novatek , shipped 33.5 million tonnes of LNG to Europe between 2018 and 2020, Refinitiv Eikon data showed, compared with 8.8 million tonnes sent to Asia. Singapore’s Pavilion Energy signs 6-year LNG supply deal with Chevron
SINGAPORE: Singapore's Pavilion Energy Trading & Supply said on Monday (Feb 22) it signed a six-year sale and purchase agreement with Chevron Corp for about 0.5 million tonnes per year of LNG supplies from 2023. Pavilion Energy, owned by Singapore state-owned investment company Temasek Holdings, struck the deal with Chevron's Singapore branch. Each cargo supplied to Singapore under the agreement will be accompanied by a statement of its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) measured from wellhead to discharge port, Pavilion Energy said in a statement. The deal follows a 10-year agreement that Pavilion Energy signed with Qatar in November which also included a GHG declaration for each cargo supplied to Singapore. PM Imran Khan praises Pakistan-Qatar LNG deal
LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday announced that Pakistan and Qatar had signed an LNG deal, saying that it will help the country save $300mn annually. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Central Business District ceremony in Lahore, the prime minister said that his government had been trying to negotiate this deal for the past one year. "When a difficult time comes upon the nation, a country has to think of 'out-of-the-box' solutions," he said. "Pakistan went through a decade of darkness," he added. The prime minister had said Pakistan was facing a fiscal deficit due to which it was forced to take foreign loans due to which the country's reserves declined and its currency lost its worth. The Power Development Master Plan 8 aims to mobilize all domestic and international resources for electricity development, ensuring a sufficient supply of electricity with increasingly high quality and reasonable electricity prices. Specifically, by 2030, the total installed power capacity of Vietnam will reach 137.2 gigawatts (GWs). Of which, coal-fired thermal power accounts for 26 percent; gas-fired thermal power 21 percent; hydroelectricity 18 percent; wind, solar, and other renewable energy 29 percent. In 2045, the total power capacity will nearly hit 276.7 GWs. Of which, coal-fired thermal power accounts for 18 percent; gas-fired power 24 percent; hydroelectricity 9 percent; wind, solar, and other renewable energy above 44 percent.
