Few electronic devices can boast of the same breath-taking appearance that the iPod offers the first time you take it out of the box. If you’d like to preserve that pristine condition for as long as possible, you’re going to need to take out an insurance policy in the form of a case, cover, sleeve or some sort of protective wrapping. Fortunately, we’ve sorted through the clutter to come up with a diverse list of favorites; surely, some of our choices below will appeal to your particular aesthetic sensibilities. That's a Wrapz We get inundated with iPod cases, as you might expect. And despite access to hot and cold running samples, there’s one iPod case I’ve actually purchased with my own hard-earned scratch: the iFrogz Wrapz . What is dead may never die: Two products Apple may be looking to revive
Apple’s not a company that’s ever been afraid to kill off its products. At the height of the iPod mini’s popularity, Steve Jobs famously axed it in order to introduce the iPod nano . The underperforming iPod Hi-Fi got the hook, and in recent years we’ve said goodbye to both the AirPort line and most of the iPods. But when a product lies fallow for many years, sitting without an update, it hangs in that liminal space between life and death, leading many to wonder whether it still has a future. Is it ready to shuffle off this mortal coil or could it be rescued from the edge of the abyss? The Mac mini , MacBook Air , and even the Mac Pro have seen this kind of revival in recent months, and just in the last week, two Apple products thought to have run out of time have been the subjects of rumored returns, hinting that perhaps death isn't what it used to be for the company. Armor your iPhone for the future with TAKTIK premium protection system
TAKTIK is an iPhone case that looks like it's built to withstand a full on Cylon invasion. From the makers of the LUNATIK iPod nano watch strap that helped kickstart Kickstarter onto our radar, it shares the same premium design and materials -- just at much bigger scale. TAKTIK's shockproof suspension features a patent-pending 9mm Impact Truss silicone perimeter compressed between two durable Ballistik polymer bezels or anodized aluminum bezels. The front bezel includes an adhered compression seal liner to protect from rain seeping into the case. Our design for the rear bezel features an open, unobstructed camera pass through that maintains brilliant photo and flash quality almost as if the case wasn't there. This sandwich construction compresses the silicone truss creating a suspension system to cradle your iPhone like the precious baby it is. They didn't stop there either. TAKTIK also has the option for a Gorilla Glass screen protector, so your iPhone doesn't look trapped … [Read more...] about Armor your iPhone for the future with TAKTIK premium protection system

Steve Jobs’s keynote address at this year’s Macworld Expo was unlike previous keynotes in so many ways, from his revelation that Apple was removing Computer from its name to the complete absence of new Mac announcements. And the one product he did announce (see “Hello, iPhone,” page 54) was unlike anything Apple’s done before. Clearly, everyone at the company—from Jobs on down—thinks that the iPhone is going to be a transformative product, one that doesn’t just thrust Apple into a new and highly competitive market, but also makes it a serious player, if not a leader, in that market overnight. Still, there’s a connection between the iPhone and all the other Apple products that have come before it. Changing the world At its core, Apple has always been about using technology to change the lives of everyday people. Starting with the iPod and continuing with the iPhone, Apple has proven that it’s really much more than just a computer company. It’s a technology company whose goal is to … [Read more...] about Apple isn’t waiting
