An emotional and teary Teoh Ze Tong emerged winner of Star Search 2019 on Sunday (Nov 3) at the Mediacorp Theatre, beating out 11 other finalists to clinch the title. In second and third places are Herman Keh and Ye Jia Yun respectively, while Vanessa Ho took home the Samsung Galaxy: Breakthrough Talent Award. Teoh, who still looked visibly surprised at the post-show press conference, said: "I'm not used to so many cameras. It feels very complicated. I didn’t expect to win. Everyone did very well." Saturday's lucky Lotto winner will be taking home the largest Powerball prize won by a single player in a year, after taking out a $22.5m prize. The winning ticket was sold on MyLotto and is made up of $22 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division. ZURICH: Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski was named The Best FIFA Men's Player 2020 on Thursday (Dec 17), beating off competition from last year's winner Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Lewandowski, who won the German league and cup double as well as the Champions League with Bayern, finished as top scorer in all three competitions and won the award for the first time. The 32-year-old also led Poland to Euro 2020 qualification and was named the 2019-20 UEFA Men's Player of the Year in October. "To win such an award and share this title with (previous winners) Messi and Ronaldo, is unbelievable and means so much to me," Lewandowski said. "I am very proud and happy. REUTERS: Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie was named US Soccer's male player of the year, the governing body said on Friday (Dec 18) as he closes out his fourth year on the national team. The 22-year-old Texan joined Italian champions Juve in August on a year-long loan from Bundesliga club Schalke 04 and has scored four goals with two assists in 29 appearances for both teams in 2020. "I want to thank everyone for this huge honor. It’s been a journey, especially through these difficult times during the (COVID-19) pandemic," said McKennie, the fourth-youngest player to receive the honour. "Our fans have stuck with us throughout and we really appreciate it. Hopefully in 2021 we can have many more memories together."
