Oppo FY20 net loss widened over 2 times to Rs 2203 cr, largest since it entered India

New Delhi: Oppo Mobiles ’ net loss has widened by more than two times to Rs 2,203 crore during FY19-20 which turns out to be the largest loss making year for the smartphone brand since it started operations in 2015. The company’s revenues increased 78% from Rs 21,724 during FY19 to Rs 38,757 crore in FY20, according to financial data accessed by business intelligence platform Tofler. The China-based brand which holds number 5th rank in India’s smartphone market shipped 16.5 million units during calendar year 2020 and captured 11% of the overall market, but on-year growth remained flat, according to research firm IDC India . Munawar Faruqi had not even started his set at the Munroe Café in Indore on January 1 when he and another stand-up comic were arrested, alongside two of the event’s organisers, for violating India ’s colonial era anti-blasphemy laws. The 28-year-old Muslim comedian was accused of “intent” to outrage religious sentiments by Aklavya Gaur, a Hindu nationalist activist and son of the city’s mayor. Thailand’s famous jasmine rice claimed yet another top prize on the world stage this month, marking the sixth such honour the World Rice Conference has bestowed on the fluffy, fragrant and full-bodied grain since 2009. The “Khao Dawk Mali 105” – a code name for the most renowned Thai jasmine rice variety – defeated rivals from Cambodia, China, the United States and Vietnam with “its combination of aroma, texture, and flavour”, said the judging panel at the annual forum for rice suppliers and policymakers. Wheelchair taxi startup Ezy Mov in talks with investors to raise funds for expansion

Mumbai: Mumbai-based wheelchair taxi startup Ezy Mov is in advanced talk with investors to raise funds worth Rs 5 crore as it looks to expand its services to two more cities, its co-founder and director Bennet D'Cunha has said. The company has also signed an agreement with Vaccine on Wheels , a doctor-based mobile vaccination clinic for the last mile delivery of the COVID-19 vaccines, particularly for the senior citizens and physically challenged people, a release said. Currently, the company operates a fleet of 35 taxis across Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. "We are in advanced talks with the investors and will soon get the Rs 5 crore of funding.
