The findings of a new and broad scope opinion study titled “The International Climate and Public Opinion Observatory” showed that the public is more worried about climate change than a year ago but believes that the fight must involve the joint efforts of the citizens and their governments. The observatory was conducted for the second consecutive year and covered two-thirds of the world’s population featuring some of the biggest carbon dioxide (CO2) emitters. According to Brice Teinturier of Ipsos, the third largest global market research company, the observatory is an effective tool in understanding and taking action for stakeholders involved in the fight against climate change. Vietnam can use diplomatic clout in addressing Myanmar crisis: experts
Myanmar is experiencing political instability after its army seized power and detained government leader Aung San Suu Kyi and much of her party leadership last month. Protests have broken out nationwide and at least 50 people have been killed. Hunter Marston, a PhD researcher with the Australian National University, said that "Vietnam can play a constructive role within ASEAN to encourage Myanmar to return to stability and release political prisoners." He said Vietnam, chair of ASEAN last year, has shown that it values the rule of law, international peace and stability. Wellington restaurant, Cafe Roti Chenai, to close after nearly 30 years
STUFF The Restaurant Association's annual report shows eateries were struck hard by Covid-19 but are slowly recovering. A Wellington restaurant, known for its curries and roti, will be closing its doors after 30 years. Cafe Roti Chenai, a Wellington institution on Victoria St will be shutting on March 18. On Monday, owner Richard Rajasekar said business had been down due to Covid-19, particularly during the lunch hour due to people working from home. One of the first Malaysian restaurants in the capital, the restaurant offers customers roti, curries and noodle dishes.
