Singapore Flyer launches Time Capsule attraction

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Flyer on Wednesday (Deb 9) unveiled its new Time Capsule attraction, aimed at providing visitors a "multi-sensory journey" of Singapore’s 700-year history. The launch of the new attraction comes amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has battered economies around the world, particularly the tourism industry. “In this challenging year, the opening of the Time Capsule at the Singapore Flyer reflects the resilience of the tourism sector," said Mr Keith Tan, chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board. "We are heartened that our attractions continue to rejuvenate their offerings with new and innovative concepts to enhance their appeal to both locals and visitors. YouTube watch time in Singapore jumps more than 30% as more stay home during pandemic

SINGAPORE: As COVID-19 disrupted lives all over the world, people in Singapore stayed home as well, spending more time watching videos online as they sought ways to cope amid the pandemic. In YouTube's annual news release on trending videos in Singapore, the video platform on Tuesday (Dec 1) said its watch time in the country grew by more than 30 per cent over the last year. Topping the list of trending videos was the Apr 3 national address by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, announcing the COVID-19 "circuit breaker" as the number of infections escalated in Singapore. Streamed live on CNA's YouTube channel , the video saw Mr Lee outline "significantly stricter measures" to contain the spread of the virus. As of Tuesday, the video had more than 1.7 million views. An earlier speech by Mr Lee on the COVID-19 situation, on the Prime Minister's Office's YouTube channel , was number 8 on the list. SINGAPORE: Some segments in the food and beverage (F&B) sector are still seeing slow recovery amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing said, reiterating the need for F&B companies to transform and diversify their revenue streams. “Recovery remains slow for some segments, including outlets in the Central Business District and tourism-focused areas, as well as catering companies,” he said in prepared remarks on Monday (Nov 30) after visiting the Swee Choon dim sum restaurant in Jalan Besar.
