Senator Lisa Murkowski has explained her vote against the latest COVID-19 relief bill as former President Donald Trump threatens to campaign against the Alaska Republican in her home state in the 2022 midterm elections. Releasing a statement on Sunday, Sen. Murkowski said President Joe Biden 's $1.9 trillion stimulus bill was "wholly partisan" and dubbed some measures in the plan "unnecessary" and unrelated to the ongoing pandemic. She also said she was concerned that the relief bill—known as the American Rescue Plan—would provide further help to those who had already "benefited" from the pandemic. A key plank of the $1.9 trillion is very popular among Alaskans—the plan for a new round of $1,400 stimulus checks. A February poll found that 68 percent of voters in the state backed the measure Murkowski voted against on Saturday. UPDATED : Stormy Daniels ’ 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper drove the CBS newsmag to 21.3 million viewers, up +111% from last week and its most watched episode since Steve Kroft’s interview with Barack and Michelle Obama in November 2008, shortly after he was elected president. That decade-old interview had attracted 24.5 million viewers, with all three segments devoted to the president-elect and his wife. Previously this morning, Sunday’s 60 Minutes hit 16.3/27 in the 56 Nielsen metered markets – a big night for Stormy, being way up compared with previous Sunday’s  7.6/13. While current data shows that former president Donald Trump remains the most popular figure among Republican voters in the US, a survey by a GOP pollster points to former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the potential early favorites among White House hopefuls. A national survey conducted between 20 February and 2 March, 2021 using a sample of 1,264 voters either registered as Republicans or affiliated with the party, by veteran GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio found that slightly more than half would support Trump if the 2024 primary were held today. "To get a majority of the vote in the face of 14 or 15 other candidates – that’s huge. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no Stormy Daniels and certainly no Michael Jackson, but their sit-down with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night was certainly a royal payoff for CBS . The two-hour Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special pulled in 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 17.1 million viewers for the network in early numbers. Or put another way, right now, that’s more eyeballs than last September’s Primetime Emmys and last week’s Golden Globes put together. Coming in low, the awards ceremonies had 6.4 million and 6.9 million viewers, respectively, and ratings of 1.3 and 1.5 when the dust settled and the final numbers were in. That’s 22% less than the early numbers for Meghan and Harry in total audience and basically even with the Emmys and the Globes’ demo results added up.
