A look at what’s happening in European soccer on Tuesday: ENGLAND Manchester City looks to make it 21 straight wins in all competitions by beating Wolverhampton to move 15 points clear in the Premier League. Wolves has caused City issues recently, beating Pep Guardiola’s side home and away last season, but does not have star striker Raul Jimenez this time round as he recovers from a fractured skull. “The history against them shows us how tough it is and we know it perfectly,“ Guardiola said. “We know exactly the type of game we have to play — to be so intense but, at the same time, calm.” City is in the middle of a hectic period featuring games every three or four days so will rotate again, with Raheem Sterling, Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva among those likely to be recalled. Manchester United is City’s nearest challenger, 12 points back, and plays Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Exclusive: Fiat Chrysler, GM try discounts, online buying to lift plunging US sales
REUTERS: With auto showrooms shut during the coronavirus pandemic, Fiat Chrysler and General Motors Co moved to reboot demand with seven-year, no-interest loans and programs allowing customers to buy vehicles online. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's new "Drive Forward" marketing program includes online shopping tools that will for the first time allow U.S. customers to complete the purchase of a vehicle through an FCA dealer without setting foot in a dealership, a company spokesman said. The move toward online sales and home delivery breaks with a long U.S. auto sector tradition of manufacturers giving franchised dealers control of sales to consumers. Dealers have fought Tesla Inc's efforts to sell vehicles directly to consumers through its website. GM and Fiat Chrysler's promotions of extended, no-interest loans - made less costly by the Federal Reserve's recent interest rate cuts - echo the "Keep America Rolling" sales push GM launched to jump start a paralyzed consumer … [Read more...] about Exclusive: Fiat Chrysler, GM try discounts, online buying to lift plunging US sales

GE’s aviation unit to cut 10per cent of US workforce: CEO
REUTERS: General Electric Co's aviation unit plans to cut its total U.S. workforce by about 10per cent, Chief Executive Officer Larry Culp said on Monday, as airlines delay purchases and ground planes amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a letter to employees, Culp also said he would forgo his salary for the rest of 2020. His total compensation was US$24.6 million in 2019. (https://reut.rs/3aetSlc) "What we don't know about the magnitude and duration of this pandemic still outweighs what we do know," Culp said. Airlines around the world have been forced to cancel flights and ground fleets as governments impose travel restrictions to contain the spread of the rapidly spreading virus. The lack of aircraft maintenance activity will affect about half of GE's U.S. maintenance, repair and overhaul workforce for 90 days, Culp said. The cost reductions will result in 2020 savings of between US$500 million and US$1 billion for GE, which has already placed a hiring freeze and canceled … [Read more...] about GE’s aviation unit to cut 10per cent of US workforce: CEO
