The historic Super Bowl 50 showdown kicked off to a fittingly cutthroat start ( ads and all ) on Sunday. Not to be outdone, Coldplay delivered a colorful halftime show that included a medley of “Viva La Vida,” “Adventure of a Lifetime,” and “Fix You,” among others tunes and nods to the past. (It was kind of like School of Rock met a California kaleidoscope.) Oh, and as promised, Chris Martin thankfully shined the Beyoncé and Bruno signals, which led to an “Uptown Funk” – ” Formation ” showdown that ended too soon. Roll the clip above to witness (or relive) the ephemeral slayage, and read our critic’s take here . … [Read more...] about Watch Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay’s Super Bowl Halftime Performance

One of the most stunning concert venues in the U.S. recently reopened just in time to celebrate its 80-year anniversary. Red Rocks Amphitheater, located near Denver, marked the milestone by honoring the people who have kept music and hope alive during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the biggest names in music — including The Beatles, Daft Punk and Stevie Nicks — have played at the historic venue. But Wednesday, every performer was a relative unknown, though not unimportant. Each has shared their music during the pandemic. "Maybe it would give them some sort of comfort, some sense of humanity when they're feeling all alone in the COVID ICU," she said. Raditya Muljadi, 11, performed online piano concerts to raise money for Lang Lang International Music Foundation, which provides scholarships to young musicians. "I knew that famous people have performed there and I was super excited," he said of Red Rocks. … [Read more...] about Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre reopens with tribute to pandemic heroes

Super Stardust HD has been released through the PlayStation Store. Since I'm a sucker for shooters and I needed to install the new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 anyway, I plunked down my $8 and gave it a go. The control scheme will be familiar to everyone; this is the Geometry Wars /Robotron dual controls for movement and aim, but the twist is that instead of a 2D board, you're shooting on a sphere around a planet. Your ship is always basically in the middle of the screen, and the planet itself rotates and spins as you blast the incoming rocks. It's a fairly dizzying game, but the effect looks great. You have your limited-supply bombs that wipe out everything near you, you have your extra lives that come by scoring or pickups, and you have upgradeable weapons. Three of them, in fact: each one with a matching rock that is susceptible to that specific attack. You spin around, get your bombs and weapon upgrades, and shoot the enemies and incoming meteorites through four … [Read more...] about Super Stardust HD on the PS3 looks and plays great, but we’ve seen this all before
