4 ways internal podcasts can help boost remote employee engagement

· February 25, 2021 ·

advertisement advertisement advertisement We live in a whirlwind of information. We’re all consuming media minute to minute in ways we could never imagine just five years ago. New social media platforms like TikTok have us laughing and dancing, and we watch breaking news live as events unfold as if we were there. Yes, we live much of our lives online, and with the pandemic plunging us into a work-from-home future, our workplace too has suddenly gone digital. advertisement advertisement The pandemic accelerated certain behaviors by 5 to 10 years, ushering in the “future of work” we’ve all been hearing about for so long. We’ve all engaged, to some degree, in a mass remote work experiment. Digital platforms have performed exceedingly well during this time: Zoom has become the de facto video meeting software and filled the void of face-to-face meetings and office chats. Slack and Teams have allowed for easy and quick communication … [Read more...] about 4 ways internal podcasts can help boost remote employee engagement

India cannot abandon us: Sri Lanka

· February 26, 2021 ·

Seeking India’s “proactive” support at the UN Human Rights Council, where a resolution on Sri Lanka will be soon put to vote, the Secretary to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “India cannot abandon us”. “If the world is one family, as your Foreign Minister has said, then we are immediate family, isn’t it,” Admiral (Retd.) Jayanath Colombage said, citing External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s reference to ‘ vasudhaiva kutumbakam ’ in his recent address to the Council. The Foreign Secretary, a former Navy Commander, spoke to The Hindu on Sri Lanka’s prospects at the ongoing session in Geneva, Indo-Lanka relations, Colombo’s broader foreign policy choices, and strategy for reconciliation from “within”, and regional cooperation. Sri Lanka, Mr. Colombage said, would be “very uncomfortable” if countries in the region did not extend support in Geneva. He expressed hope that India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh — who are among members of the current Council — will … [Read more...] about India cannot abandon us: Sri Lanka

Russian LNG, natural gas shouldn’t compete in export markets, Gazprom says

· February 26, 2021 ·

MOSCOW: Russia should ensure its natural gas and LNG supplies do not compete in international markets , Gazprom said on Thursday, amid signs a local LNG rival is becoming increasingly important in the European market traditionally dominated by Gazprom. Moscow has for years said its pipeline gas, which only Gazprom has a right to export, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), would never compete, with its LNG targeting mainly Asia and parts of Europe not served by natural gas pipelines. However, Yamal LNG, led by Russia's top private gas producer Novatek , shipped 33.5 million tonnes of LNG to Europe between 2018 and 2020, Refinitiv Eikon data showed, compared with 8.8 million tonnes sent to Asia. Russia, home to the world's biggest gas reserves and the second largest gas producer globally after the United States, aims to boost LNG output nearly threefold to 140 million tonnes in 15 years, to add to the gas it supplies the pipelines. Some in the industry hope its LNG may … [Read more...] about Russian LNG, natural gas shouldn’t compete in export markets, Gazprom says

India sends first wheat shipment to Afghanistan via Chabahar port

· October 29, 2017 ·

India on Sunday sent its first consignment of wheat to Afghanistan through the Chabahar port in Iran, seen as a 'landmark' move to operationalise the new strategic transit route, bypassing Pakistan. The shipment was flagged off from the Kandla port in Gujarat with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani joining the ceremony through video conferencing. 'The shipment of wheat is a landmark moment as it will pave the way for operationalisation of the Chabahar port as an alternate, reliable and robust connectivity for Afghanistan,' the ministry of external affairs said in a statement. In June, India and Afghanistan had launched an air freight corridor between the two countries to boost trade as Pakistan has been refusing land transit access through its territory. "I am extremely delighted that today we have joined on a momentous occasion for the people of our three countries and the region," Swaraj said, terming the move as … [Read more...] about India sends first wheat shipment to Afghanistan via Chabahar port

Sony to allow PS5 storage upgrades ‘this summer’ after gamers max out memory

· February 26, 2021 ·

SONY is reportedly plotting to hand a lifeline to gamers who've already maxed out the storage on their PlayStation 5s. According to Bloomberg , the Japanese tech titan will open up its new console to internal memory upgrades in the coming months. The PS5's 825GB memory drive leaves players with 667GB of usable space on which to store games and other files – and that fills up pretty fast. Gamers on social media have reported that their drives are maxed out after downloading just a handful of marquee titles. That could all be about to change, according to Bloomberg. The site reported on Friday that a firmware update released by Sony this summer will add support for additional internal drives. That will allow gamers to drastically expand their storage, releasing the bottleneck that stops them from having too many games on the go. The update will also unlock higher cooling-fan speeds to ensure the console doesn’t overheat, people close to the matter said. Unlike … [Read more...] about Sony to allow PS5 storage upgrades ‘this summer’ after gamers max out memory
