The McDonald’s My Melody food holder that took Japan by storm will now be available in Singapore from Dec 6. The bucket in the shape of Hello Kitty’s best friend – a cute white rabbit with pink ears – and is priced at S$6.90 with any McDonald’s purchase, limited to five food holders per transaction. The food holders, however, won't be available via McDelivery. The Sanrio collectible became a viral sensation in Japan last month when it was launched in the country’s McDonald’s outlets for ¥890 (about S$10.70) each. Netflix has released the official trailer for Bad Trip , the new hidden camera comedy movie starring Eric Andre. With Jackass co-creator Jeff Tremaine producing, the Borat -style movie follows two friends taking a road trip with the cast pulling off hidden camera pranks on the unsuspecting public. It looks to be just as insane as it sounds, and you can catch a peek at what it will be like by watching the trailer below. The trailer wastes no time in teasing the insanity to be found in Bad Trip . Andre's clothes are completely sucked off by a shop-vac while he's detailing a customer's car, leaving him completely naked in front of several onlookers. SCDF stepping up fire safety checks during festive period
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is stepping up fire safety checks at commercial properties during the festive period, it said in a news release on Saturday (Dec 15). Two shopping malls and five public entertainment outlets were inspected on Friday and several fire safety violations were found. These include exit lights that were not working, obstruction to common passageways and exit doors, as well as "unauthorised change of use in parts of the premises", said SCDF. SCDF reminded the owners and management of public buildings and places of recreation to ensure compliance with all fire safety requirements. Entertainment outlets like discotheques and pubs should also ensure that their premises are not overcrowded. "SCDF takes fire safety violations seriously and will not hesitate to take tough enforcement actions against the offenders," it said. U.S. panel recommends export ‘choke points’ to prevent Chinese dominance in semiconductors

A U.S. national security commission on Monday recommended Congress tighten up "choke points" on chipmaking technology to prevent China from overtaking the United States in semiconductors in the coming years. The National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI), led by former Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, recommended clamping down on China's ability to procure the manufacturing equipment needed to make advanced computing chips. Such chips are used in surveillance technologies such as facial recognition. "China is making an aggressive push to promote authoritarianism around the world," an NSCAI official told Reuters. "It boils down to semiconductors." Much chip making equipment comes from U.S. firms such as Applied Materials Inc and Lam Research Corp which are already subject to American export controls.
