India vs England: Mohammed Azharuddin Slams English Batsmen For Wearing Spikes on Motera Pitch

· February 26, 2021 ·

Following the Motera horror show, the English team has faced immense backlash, and former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin is the latest to take a jibe at the tourists. Azharuddin said it was not pleasant to see batsmen “come a cropper” in the third Test between India and England in Ahmedabad, which ended in a 10-wicket win for India on Thursday. Taking to Twitter, a day after India’s win Azhar said that the English batsmen could have used rubber soles rather than opting for spikes on the Motera strip. The former India skipper also pointed out that batsmen in the past like Sunil Gavaskar have succeeded in playing with rubber soles. He tweeted: “It was disappointing to watch the batsmen come a cropper in the Ahmedabad Test. The key to batting on such dry tracks and rank turners is shot-selection and assured footwork. It makes little sense to wear spikes when batting. Rubber soles don’t hamper the ability of batsmen.” His second tweet: “I have seen some amazing Test knocks being … [Read more...] about India vs England: Mohammed Azharuddin Slams English Batsmen For Wearing Spikes on Motera Pitch

Buddhists pray online due to COVID-19 outbreak Blood shortage warned as donations postponed due to COVID-19 outbreaks The resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic in many cities and provinces in recent weeks has seriously affected the blood supply for medical treatment. Although many people and organisations responded to the call of blood donation by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) on February 19, the amount of blood received per day was still only a few hundred units while the average need for treatment each day is from 1,200 to 1,500 units. There is usually a shortage of blood during the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday as the holiday lasts long while blood has a short shelf life and many patients still need blood transfusions during Tết. This year, the pandemic's resurgence has made the shortage after Tết even worse. Before Tết, 30 entities requested to postpone or cancel blood donation plans which meant the NIHBT missed out on … [Read more...] about VIETNAM NEWS HEADLINES FEB. 25

India vs England 2021: Section of English media blames team for Motera debacle, others point fingers at pitch

· February 26, 2021 ·

England on Thursday (February 25) suffered an embarrassing 10-wicket defeat in the third Test against India on a spin-friendly Motera track to go down 1-2 in the four-match series. The match ended under two days with the pitch drawing flak from some former players like Michael Vaughan, who called it "not ideal" for Test cricket. But 'The Guardian' newspaper focussed on England's own shoddy display. "Inquest into England's two-day thrashing will yield no easy answers," read the headline of its report. "It is hard to work out what to blame for the disastrous third Test defeat against India when so many things went wrong. India vs England: It’s for ICC to decide whether Motera pitch is fit for purpose, not players: Joe Root The newspaper went on to pin the blame on the rotation policy, which led to resting of key players during the series, the failure to read the conditions, and "the hangover from the heavy defeat in Chennai last week." "Then the batsmen's inability to … [Read more...] about India vs England 2021: Section of English media blames team for Motera debacle, others point fingers at pitch

Mum ‘disgusted’ after daughter, 10, sent ‘inappropriately sexual’ work from school

· February 26, 2021 ·

A mum was left "disgusted" after her 10-year-old daughter was sent home-schooling work that included "inappropriately sexual" phrases. Annette Farrington, 27, from Fazakerley, Liverpool, was home-schooling her daughter when she noticed the worrying material. The English homework included phrases such as "She fondled", "I stroked", and "She felt his". Annette said: "She got the homework just before half-term but because there was so much we had some left over so we were doing it yesterday. "She was doing work on the Holocaust, and I think it had got mixed up with that. "When I was looking at it I thought that doesn't even make sense, why it would be there? "But after speaking to the school they said it was part of an English lesson giving examples to help kids make their own story." Printed on one of the English worksheets for her daughter were short sentences describing how somebody may feel. Under the header "How do I feel?" examples were listed, including "When I … [Read more...] about Mum ‘disgusted’ after daughter, 10, sent ‘inappropriately sexual’ work from school

Virat Kohli Come Out And Defended Motera Wicket as if it’s a BCCI Thing: Alastair Cook

· February 26, 2021 ·

Former England captain Alastair Cook took a sly dig on Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s stance on the Motera pitch for the third Test match. The Indian captain defended the dusty Motera track and claimed batsmen were not up to the standards. During the post-match presentation, Kohli said “It was bizarre that out of 30 wickets, 21 were too straight balls. It was down to a lapse of concentration or playing for turn and beating on the inside.” Disagreeing with Kohli’s assessment, Cook said batting was near impossible on the newly laid strip at the refurbished stadium in Ahmedabad. “Virat Kohli’s come out and defended the wicket almost as if it’s a BCCI thing — it cannot possibly be the wicket. Yet it was so hard to bat on that. So hard,” Cook told Channel 4. “Take the wicket out and blame the batsmen?” Cook asked, referring to Kohli’s assessment of the pitch that it’s a “very good pitch to bat on — especially in the first innings”. The third Test match between India and England was … [Read more...] about Virat Kohli Come Out And Defended Motera Wicket as if it’s a BCCI Thing: Alastair Cook
