The Legal luminary expressed regret that the government was not doing enough to the funding of education, saying paltry six percent was budgeted for education by the present government as against 26 present recommended by UNESCO. Babalola said this in Ado Ekiti while playing host simultaneously to leaders of Bursars’ Association of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (BURSCON) and the Federal Government’s Gas expansion Committee, who paid a courtesy call to ABUAD. Apple board adds Monica Lozano, education advocate and ex-journalist
Education advocate Monica Lozano has been elected to Apple's board of directors, the company said Tuesday. Lozano is president and CEO of College Futures Foundation , which works to help low-income students and students of color access higher education. Before starting at the foundation in 2017, Lozano spent 30 years as editor and publisher of La Opinión, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the US. She rose to become chair and CEO of La Opinión's parent company, ImpreMedia. She serves on the boards of Target and Bank of America and previously was on the board of Disney. Vietnam's university education moving up in international rankings . - Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - The placing of Vietnamese universities in prestigious global rankings has continually been on the rise in recent times despite the country’s much shorter history in terms of higher education. On a list of 10,000 universities in Asia from the Quacquarelli Symonds Education Organisation (QS) were seven from Vietnam in 2018, eight in 2020, and 11 in 2021. The top 500 in Asia in 2018 saw the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (HNU), the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Can Tho University, Hue University, and the University of Da Nang. Ton Duc Thang University and Duy Tan University were also added to the top 500 in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Localities ordered to work harder on child education, protection
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has issued a document on implementing child care, education and protection in 2021, requesting localities to raise responsibilities and take more comprehensive and drastic measures to protect children. The document states that 2021 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and many socio-economic development plans in various fields, including the national action programme for children for 2021 – 2030. “We are coming across cases, where the education system is being distorted and perverted,” the Supreme Court said on Tuesday as it stayed the Karnataka High Court order granting bail to the accused in 2016 Pre University (PU) question papers leak case. The top court said it is trying to send a message to those who are ruining the education system that they will be dealt harshly. A bench of Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian issued notice on the plea of Karnataka government challenging the last year order of the high court grant of bail to the accused. “We know what had happened in the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. We are coming across cases where the education system is being distorted and perverted.
