Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile dominate $81 billion 5G spectrum auction

The nation's largest wireless carriers dominated the Federal Communications Commission's latest 5G spectrum auction, pushing revenue to a record-shattering price tag of more than $81 billion. The FCC released the names and winning bids of the top five bidders for the auction on Wednesday. Verizon, which bid under the name Cellco Partnership, spent the most on the auction bidding a whopping $45 billion for 3,511 spectrum licenses. AT&T came in second bidding $23 billion for 1,621 licenses. T-Mobile had the third highest bid of $9 billion for 142 licenses. The so-called C-band spectrum, which includes 500 MHz of spectrum between 3.7 and 4.2 GHz, has been used by satellite providers to deliver video programming to cable providers. Perrine Laffont, Mikael Kingsbury add to dominance with moguls world titles

Frenchwoman Perrine Laffont and Canadian Mikaël Kingsbury won the moguls at the freestyle skiing world championships, consolidating favorite status to repeat as Olympic gold medalists next year. Laffont, who in PyeongChang became the youngest Olympic freestyle skiing champion ever at 19, prevailed with an 82.11-point last run in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Monday. She beat defending world champion Yuliya Galysheva of Kazakhstan by 2.59 points. Russian Anastasiya Smirnova took bronze. The top American was Kai Owens in sixth. Laffont had the fastest super final run, earned the most air points and had the best turns of the field. She picked up the last major title missing from her resume, extending her win streak to 11 standard moguls competitions dating to the start of the 2019-20 season. The Queen’s Gambit is being adapted into a musical… as Netflix hit continues to dominate during awards season

The Queen's Gambit was one of 2020's most talked about series, earning huge streaming numbers and rave reviews. And now the Netflix chess drama is heading to Broadway, courtesy of production company Level Forward. Level Forward has obtained the rights to the Walter Tevis novel the awards-winning show was based on and is now developing a musical adaptation of the Anya Taylor-Joy-fronted limited series. Music to my ears: The Queen's Gambit is being adapted into a musical by Level Forward production company, which just acquired the rights to the book the series is based off of The company has a history on hits on stage, previously working on Alanis Morrissette's musical Jagged Little Pill and Jeremy O'Harris' critically-acclaimed Slave Play. The Queen's Gambit can surely bank on a built-in audience, boasting the title of Netflix's most watched limited series in November 2020.
