Australia are regretting their slackness during the Melbourne Test against India last December that ended up costing them a place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. During the contest, the hosts were guilty of maintaining a slow-over rate which resulted in the ICC docking them four WTC points as they were found of being two overs behind. Once Australia cancelled their three-match Test tour of South Africa, New Zealand qualified for the final after finishing 0.3 per cent ahead of their Trans-Tasman rivals. However, Australia were still in the hunt depending on the outcome of the India-England four-match Test series. As it turned out, India went on to win the series 3-1 punching their way to the summit clash where they will face New Zealand from June 18 in Southampton. Now, Australia head coach Justin Langer has expressed his disappointment saying his team were “really slack”. “This might be the silliest thing I’ve ever said, but our manager Gavin Dovey … he’d been … [Read more...] about ICC World Test Championship: How Slow Over-Rate Against India Cost Australia a Place in Final

India vs England: Hardik Pandya all set to bowl in T20Is, big boost for Virat Kohli’s side
And if his preparations for the upcoming T20Is against England is anything to go by, he could be hitting the bowling crease against the No.1 ranked T20 side. In a video shared by Hardik on Twitter, while he is seen practising the big shots to begin with, he can be seen bowling full throttle towards the end of the clip. "Preparation done. Can't wait to get on the field on the 12th," Hardik wrote. Not just the Australia series, the all-rounder also didn't hit the bowling crease for his franchise Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) title-winning campaign in 2020. It was his prowess with the bat that saw Hardik being adjudged as 'Man of the Series' in the three-match T20I series against Australia which India won 2-1. The 27-year-old was in India's Test squad for the series against England, but he did not play a single Test as Virat Kohli-led side won the four-match series 3-1 to progress to the final of the World Test Championship. India vs England: T20 Dilemmas: Tough calls between Dhawan/Rahul, Chahar/Bhuvneshwar, Shreyas/Surya
There are 19 players available for selection and with two in contention for each slot, the XI for the five games, starting here on Friday, will be an indication to how head coach Ravi Shastri, captain Virat Kohli and bowling coach Bharat Arun are looking at the next six to seven months for the shortest format. Will they look for a settled combination to first clinch the series and then experiment or will they field absolute rookies in the squad looking at the bigger picture? For a team that's so closely followed, the result does matter and that's why one can expect a settled first eleven for the first three games since all matches are at the same venue on similar kinds of tracks. The roaring comeback of Rishabh Pant will lead to a lot of interesting developments at the top of the order. Pant's inclusion means that KL Rahul, who till a few months back was the first choice keeper-opener, is unlikely to don the big gloves. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were a settled white ball … [Read more...] about India vs England: T20 Dilemmas: Tough calls between Dhawan/Rahul, Chahar/Bhuvneshwar, Shreyas/Surya
