The good stuff Google's Jetpack Compose is a new concept in designing how an app looks and works, and it's pretty cool! Jerry Hildenbrand 28 Feb 2021 0 Source: Joe Maring / Android Central Google's developer team loves to make tools to use with Android Studio and show off how they work. The development of Kotlin and Android Jetpack libraries has changed the way a lot of developers who write the non-Google apps we love work. But its newest tool might be one of the best yet, specifically when it comes to apps for "big screens". A big screen can mean a lot of things, but in this case, we're talking about tablets and Chromebooks. It's no secret that even the best Android tablets or the best Chromebooks all suffer from one of Android's biggest flaws: plenty of apps look really bad or just don't work as they should once you move past a phone screen. COVID-19: Network analysis tool developed by DSTA speeds up contact tracing, helped link Mustafa Centre and dorms
SINGAPORE: A network analysis tool that helps automate contact tracing was able to plot links between COVID-19 clusters in Singapore, including Mustafa Centre, the Project Glory construction site and several foreign worker dormitories, one of which was S11 [email protected], currently with more than 2,000 infections. The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) said that relevant case information was fed into the tool developed by its engineers from early April. While links had been identified among those clusters, the tool substantiated the findings and found more cases connected to the clusters. New confirmed cases who visited the mall in Little India were then linked to the construction sites as well as the dormitories, where the number of COVID-19 cases has exploded. Indonesia starts developing controversial food estate project
JAKARTA: Indonesia has started developing a food estate to grow rice, corn and other crops that should eventually span the archipelago and aims to curb reliance on food imports in the world's fourth most populous country, President Joko Widodo said on Wednesday (Sep 23). The project, which is spearheaded by the president's former rival turned minister Prabowo Subianto, is expected to cover an area of 770,000ha, or more than 10 times the size of Singapore. The estate will allocate 148,000ha to rice and 622,000ha of non-irrigated land for crops like maize, said the president, who is widely known as Jokowi. The food estate will be first located in Central Kalimantan on Borneo island and in North Sumatra, and will be extended to West Papua, East Nusa Tenggara and South Sumatra, Jokowi said in a televised Cabinet meeting. "Infrastructure support and road access will also be carried out in the field immediately so that ... large modern agricultural tools will not experience … [Read more...] about Indonesia starts developing controversial food estate project
SAF making thousands of calls a day to contact trace, check stay-home compliance as COVID-19 fight hits ‘critical juncture’
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is making between 1,000 to 2,000 calls a day to help contact trace and check compliance with stay-home notices as the Government ramps up measures to tackle COVID-19. The daily operation, which started on Jan 28 with calls to travellers from Hubei province, involves more than 1,300 servicemen and non-uniformed personnel. SAF contact tracers work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to fill gaps in the activity maps of confirmed or suspected cases. They call close contacts of these cases, ask questions about the nature of their interactions and whether they visited certain locations, then decide whether to issue quarantine orders. For stay-home notice compliance checks, SAF personnel call those who have been unresponsive to text messages sent by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), to determine if they are at home and reasons for not responding. SAF will collate these responses and send them to ICA, while those who remain … [Read more...] about SAF making thousands of calls a day to contact trace, check stay-home compliance as COVID-19 fight hits ‘critical juncture’
