$20 million in unused English tuition fees should be used to support struggling language schools, says MP
STUFF Some Auckland migrant workers ended up living in a warehouse. (Video first published June 2019). An immigration scheme which requires migrants to buy English lessons when they apply for residency is viewed as “an entry fee” – with more than $20 million in teaching vouchers unclaimed. Calls are now being made for cash generated under the Pre-purchased English Language Tuition (PELT) scheme to be used to support private language schools, which are struggling while the borders are closed due to Covid-19 . As part of their resident visa application some people are required to pay for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses if their partner and children aged 16 and older cannot speak and understand English to the required standard. Migrants requiring PELT sign a letter agreeing to undertake classes but their subsequent enrolment and attendance is not compulsory. Why did you raise liquor prices, woman asks MP
YSR Congress leaders were taken aback on Sunday during their election campaign in Kadiri municipality when a woman asked Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav and Kadiri MLA Pedaballi Venkata Sidda Reddy why the government had raised the prices of liquor. During their campaign, the MP and MLA greeted a woman at her doorstep when she told them that her husband’s liquor addiction was taking a toll on the family’s finances. The MP then explained that the government had reduced the availability of liquor and increased the prices to control consumption, to which the woman is learnt to have said that she did not see any decline in consumption. “My husband is drinking and our family is getting ruined due to liquor,” she said. The MLA replied that the prices of liquor were increased to make it unaffordable for those addicted to it. “Who asked you to increase the prices? It is putting an extreme financial burden on our family, and my husband’s health is also getting badly affected,” the woman is … [Read more...] about Why did you raise liquor prices, woman asks MP
Kairana exodus: Blame it on ‘bhaigiri’, says BJP MP
'It is impossible for a decent man to live in Kairana town.' K airana's Member of Parliament Hukum Singh last week produced a list with details of '346 Hindu families' who had allegedly fled their homes in the town in western Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district due to 'threats and extortion by criminal elements belonging to a particular community.' Even as Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah expressed serious concern over the 'migration' at the BJP's national executive in Allahabad, the Congress and the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh were quick to accuse the BJP of attempting to 'communalise' the situation ahead of the 2017 assembly polls. Hukum Singh, 78, began his political career as a Congress politician, then joined the Lok Dal, returned to the Congress, serving in the Veer Bahadur Singh and Narain Dutt Tewari ministries of the mid 1980s. After he joined the BJP in the early 1990s, he was elected on the party's ticket and appointed a minister in the … [Read more...] about Kairana exodus: Blame it on ‘bhaigiri’, says BJP MP
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Patch Notes For March 8 Include MP, Zombies Fixes
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has received a small new update that makes fine-tuning changes across multiplayer, Zombies, and the League Play mode. For multiplayer, the Rapid Fire Moshpit playlist has been added to quick play, and that's the only change for now (though additional playlist updates are expected for later in the week). Also for multiplayer, the Guerrilla Warfare challenge has been updated so it tracks kills from any weapon instead of only the weapons from players you've killed. Additionally, the Helping Hand challenge now tracks Spy Plane scoring--apparently it didn't do this properly before. For the more competitive League Play mode, the update fixes an issue that could cause names to appear as blank. It also fixes an issue where players could be assigned a "broken" Ladder. And for Zombies, the March 8 update adds stability fixes for Objectives in the new Outbreak mode, while it also stops a "graphic corruption" issue from occurring when using the Frenzied … [Read more...] about Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Patch Notes For March 8 Include MP, Zombies Fixes
