Nestle sells North American spring water brands for $4.3 bn (photo: AFP) The sale includes five of the giant's spring water brands, including Poland Spring, three of its mountain water brands, its purified water business and its United States and Canada water delivery service, ReadyRefresh, according to a statement. "This sale enables us to create a more focused business around our international premium brands, local natural mineral waters and high-quality healthy hydration products," Nestle CEO Mark Schneider said in the statement. The eight brands totaled nearly 3.4 billion Swiss francs (more than 3 billion euros, or $3.8 billion) in sales in 2019. The maker of such famous chocolate bars as KitKat and Butterfinger will hang onto its Perrier, San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna water brands. KUALA LUMPUR: Allies in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) have stepped up their preparations in expectation of a snap general election to resolve the power vacuum in Malaysia. United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) secretary-general Annuar Musa said in a press conference that the party had summoned its divisional leaders for a briefing on Thursday (Feb 27) and gave specific guidelines on how BN and PAS election machinery will work together at the national, state and area levels. KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on Wednesday (Sep 23) he received information that many UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) Members of Parliament have stated their support for opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to form a new government. Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN chairman, said UMNO and BN are not component parties of Perikatan Nasional (PN), so any support for the PN government comes from individual MPs. “UMNO and BN are not able to stop MPs supporting Anwar from meeting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to make known his intention," he said in a statement. “I was told that many UMNO and BN MPs have voiced their support (for Anwar). JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) Johor chief Hasni Mohammad has been sworn in as the Johor chief minister on Friday (Feb 28), the royal press office confirmed in a statement. The state assemblyman for Benut took his oath of office before the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar at Istana Bukit Serene in Johor Bahru, the statement said.
