NEW YORK: Tech company Blockstack PBC's digital currency "Stacks" can become tradable by U.S. investors with the launch of its new blockchain early next year, Muneeb Ali, the company's co-founder and chief executive told Reuters in an interview late last week. Under U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, some cryptocurrencies or digital tokens have been classed as securities as part of efforts to enforce rules against entities failing to register digital currencies or assets sold to investors. With the launch of Blockstack's Stacks Blockchain 2.0 on Jan. 14, 2021, the company's network will be no longer be controlled by any single entity and its Stacks token can no longer be considered a security under SEC regulations, Ali said. NFTs Boom as Collectors Shell Out to ‘Own’ Digital Art
It started with CryptoKitties. In December 2017, the dopey-looking cartoon cats, created by Canadian company Dapper Labs, debuted as tradable collectibles, like Pokémon cards for the bitcoin era. Each image was associated with a unique string of digits—a cryptocurrency “non-fungible token,” or NFT—that could be traded on the Ethereum blockchain platform as a title deed granting the holder ownership of a particular kitty. That was eventually solved—and that was, for most people, the last they heard of CryptoKitties. But the process the goggle-eyed cats set off did not end there. Its end point is an auction that started on Thursday, in which a token associated with a digital collage of 5,000 images by graphic designer Beeple went under the hammer at auction house Christie’s. Cryptocurrency payments were of course accepted. NFTs … [Read more...] about NFTs Boom as Collectors Shell Out to ‘Own’ Digital Art

“Passive income” Or in other words, investing in assets and making free money while you sleep. To the new investor, the idea itself might seem ludicrous. But to weathered tycoons, this very sentiment is the driving lifeforce behind massive oceans of wealth.
