The world is at a standstill. An outbreak of respiratory disease by a novel strain of coronavirus has turned into a global pandemic. They traced the origin of the COVID-19 outbreak to Wuhan, a small town in Hubei Province, China. It has infected hundreds of thousands. Last March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global pandemic with 90 percent of the world’s cases in four countries — China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea. They named the virus “SARS-CoV-2,” with the strain’s similarities to the SARS-COV responsible for the outbreak in 2003. A plan introduced by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) would increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour for Americans employed by billion-dollar corporations. Hawley’s legislation would require corporations with revenues of $1 billion or more to pay their employees at least $15 an hour, a wage increase that would likely boost salaries for millions of Americans while protecting small businesses. Hawley said on Friday: In this moment of crisis, our country needs us to stand up and say, ‘We will not be ruled by giant corporations and liberal elite.’ We will not be told what to do by these modern-day oligarchs. What we need is a new nationalism, a new agenda to make the rule of the people real in this country and give the people American back, give it back to them. The property at 1 Martin Place – smack in the middle of the CBD and a short stroll from attractions like the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the vibrant enclave of Barangaroo – was home to The Westin Sydney for more than two decades. It occupies a modern high-rise as well as the city’s historic General Post Office (GPO), a heritage-listed building constructed in 1874.
