On The Trail: GOP’s tyranny of the minority

· March 6, 2021 ·

Republican lawmakers in Washington and around the country are increasingly embracing measures to limit voting access after losing the highest-turnout election in American history. The party’s embrace of restrictive new measures and rollbacks of popular vote-by-mail and early voting programs that enjoyed bipartisan support just a few years ago is a reflection of the new incentive structure facing the Grand Old Party. Rather than recalibrating positions after an electoral loss to better appeal to the vast middle, Republicans today appear to see more advantage in excluding as many voters as possible from communities likely to vote Democratic. ADVERTISEMENT In Georgia, the GOP-controlled state House this week voted to strictly limit absentee and early voting. In Arizona, the Republican-controlled state Senate approved a measure to remove voters from a permanent absentee ballot list if they do not vote in two consecutive elections. North Wales: Bulldor Rally summary

· June 19, 2009 ·

Cronin Pips Higgins to Claim Bulldog International Rally Victory After a titanic battle, the Bulldog International Rally of North Wales has been won by Irishmen Keith Cronin and Greg Shinnors in their Mitsubishi Evo 9 as they finished a narrow nine seconds ahead of former champion Mark Higgins and co-driver Bryan Thomas in their Subaru Impreza N11 on the 82-mile Bala-based event. Cronin pushed Higgins throughout the entire day in a close battle, with Higgins having a three second advantage heading into the sixth and final test after leading from the outset. But Higgins encountered a problem in the final stage when they hit a pothole and damaged the suspension, which allowed Cronin to push ahead to claim his first ever victory in the UK forests and maximum points in round one of the BRC on their debut in the series. The victory puts Cronin and Shinnors in the lead of the British Rally Championship (BRC) and the driver, who crashed out of the event in 2008, said: "It's not … [Read more...] about North Wales: Bulldor Rally summary

But in 2021, like many other things in life, the NBA All-Star Game will be a little different. Only a very limited number of invited guests will be allowed to watch the best the league has to offer on March 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The main event of the day will still be the All-Star Game -- where the league's best players duke it out -- with the skills challenge and the three-point contest happening beforehand. The high flying slam dunk contest will take place at half time. The Rising Stars match, the league's annual showcase of premier young talent, is not taking place this year due to the limitation of having All-Star events just on one night. Read More As well as putting on a show, the NBA and National Basketball Players Association has announced that they will commit more than $2.5 million in … [Read more...] about NBA’s best players gather for All-Star Game like no other
