Under the Banner of Heaven stars Andrew Garfield as a Mormon detective tasked with solving the gruesome murder of 24-year-old Brenda Wright Lafferty (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her infant daughter. While Garfield and Gil Birmingham’s characters aren’t necessarily based on real people, the rest of the characters are. The mini-series is based on author Jon Krakauer's non-fiction book of the same name that details the 1984 murder case that shook the state of Utah.
