Thirsty Britons have jumped the gun on the next stage of lockdown loosening and are already enjoying drinks in beer gardens, terraces and outdoor seating areas. Crowds gasping for the pubs to reopen have pre-empted the impending green-light Boris Johnson will soon give pubs and restaurants to welcome back customers.  Young revellers in trendy London boroughs were today pictured sipping pints at socially-distanced tables outside venues selling takeaways.  Landlords are currently only allowed to sell food and drink if it is consumed off the premises and measures are taken to keep people two metres apart. But ministers are preparing to breathe new life into the nation’s flagging hospitality industry, which was the first to shutter during lockdown, by allowing them to tentatively reopen soon.   Over the next fortnight ahead of July 4, the Prime Minister will outline a raft of changes, including allowing customers to drink on the pavement, encouraging bars to use apps for orders and banging the drum for an ‘al fresco dining revolution’.
