A bare 15 Bridgend side were faced with a very well drilled super fit Cardiff team, whose training showed within the set pieces. For all the training Cardiff failed to capitalise early on due to a brave Athletic defence. An early Athletic penalty saw a missed opportunity for three points as the kick was brushed right of the uprights. Relentless attacks from the Athletic saw them driving up the field, led by the centre midfield and forward pack with very strong running from Aled Pilliner, Callum Swinford and captain Aaron Mordecai. Errors with the Athletic ball retention enabled Met to break free and score a converted try, and soon followed up with a penalty.The Athletic were again on the front foot with more charges from Jamie Doherty, Matthew Greenman and Rhys Jones.
