Cultural activities will take place at the Village for Vietnamese Ethnic Culture and Tourism on the outskirts of Hanoi with the participation of 120 heads of ethnic minority villages, artisans and members of different ethnic groups from across the country. In addition to the traditional Tay wedding ceremony, another highlight will be the thanksgiving service of the Gia Rai people of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai. Visitors to the village during the week will also have the chance to watch demonstrations of traditional crafts and the making of work tools, as well as traditional song and dance performances. These events are intended to celebrate the Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Day, which falls on November 23. The day was declared in 2005 to celebrate the value of Vietnamese cultural heritage and encourage all walks of life to actively participate in the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese culture.
