The 2015 ASEAN traditional music festival will take place in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa from August 1 to 6, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The event is part of the 2015 Tourism Stimulus Program, which was kicked off in April in Thanh Hoa and is seen as the biggest travel promotion program of the year to fuel domestic tourism growth, said Pham Dinh Thang, Deputy Head of the Performing Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at a press conference held in Hanoi last week.
So far, ten art troupes from ten ASEAN countries and a troupe from South Korea have registered to join the event, he said.
The folk music troupe of the Vietnam Theater of Music and Dance will represent Vietnam to join the festival with performances at the opening ceremony on August 1.
Artists attending the festival will deliver art performances every night to audiences at Lam Son Theatre free of charge. In addition, they will also stage free music performances respectively at the stage on Sam Son Beach every night from August 2 to 5.
The festival, which is also the first of its kind in Vietnam, is expected to present a good opportunity for artists in the region to exchange experience and listen to the regional traditional music. In addition, it aims to boost solidarity among ASEAN countries towards the establishment of the ASEAN Community at the end of this year.
