CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Instead of fighting among themselves, the Dutch fought back. As a result, they delivered a stunning knockout Friday in the World Cup quarterfinals.In Port Elizabeth, the Netherlands stormed back from a halftime deficit and upended favored Brazil, 2-1. Using an own goal and a header from one of the shortest men on the field, the Dutch jarred the five-time world champions to reach the semifinals for the first time in 32 years.The Netherlands will play Uruguay in Tuesday’s semifinal here. The Uruguayans outlasted Ghana in a penalty-kick shootout, 4-2, in a wild finish. Before the shootout, with the score tied 1-1, Ghana missed a penalty kick as stoppage time expired in the second extra time period. It would have made Ghana the first African team to reach the semifinals.For the Dutch, it was time to exorcise some ghosts; the Netherlands was eliminated by Brazil in the 1994 quarterfinals and 1998 semis. “It was an amazing game,” said 5-7 Wesley Sneijder, who connected for the 68th-minute winner. “We showed the whole world how we can play.
